Well, hardly a "Flash in the Pan" it seems...

Littler Beats Humphries to Win Premier League Darts Title

"Teenager Luke Littler continued his astonishing rise by winning the 2024 Premier League Darts title with an 11-7 victory over Luke Humphries at the O2 Arena in London.
Littler, 17, was left in tears after winning six of the last eight legs to beat world champion Humphries in the final, racing off the stage to hug his family.
"To all the doubters, hello! I've just picked up this! You're not doubting me any more," the teenager said to Sky Sports after becoming the eighth player to win a Premier League title."

"His win sees him pocket £275,000 in prize money, on top of the £40,000 earned earlier in the campaign. The £315,000 total more than doubles his career prize money to date." - might just buy a few more kebabs, though perhaps some of those diet jabs wouldn't go amiss! :tsk: :duck:

Teenager Littler demolishes Van Gerwen to claim historic world title

Incredible Luke Littler etched his name into darting history with a crushing 7-3 victory over Michael van Gerwen to become the youngest ever PDC World Championship winner.

The 17-year-old was in unstoppable form as he raced into a 4-0 lead, and despite Van Gerwen getting three sets on the board, he never really threatened a comeback and was always in Littler's rear mirror...............

Yes, a fat teenager playing a pub game instead of fat 40-somethings.
Mind you, if breakdancing can make it to the Olympics, darts probably has a decent chance.
This is the way

Thousands of parents spend every weekend getting up early to take their child to their football match, whether it be rain, wind or even -2 with a frost on the ground. All in the hope that their child may be good enough to one day be scouted to play for a team in the league, be it lower league or dining at the top table. Fair play to them. But I take my hat off to Luke Littler's dad, thinking f**k that and taking his lad to the pub every week instead.

(sadly I'm not the author of this little gem)

Odd experience the other evening, had an emergency dentist appointment just west of Wood Green. I've only once been that area. Suddenly I saw groups of minions walking down the road. Dinosaurs. The Avengers. Ronald Mcdonald and the Hamburglar came and sat in front of me on the bus. Hundreds and hundreds of different characters and oddities walking down the road. Only when we passed Alexandra Palace, did it click it was the darts crowd leaving ally pally.

Very much a fancy dress event is the darts of course, wondered what the hell was going on! 🤣
