Hua Hin- Don't park it here...!!???

Post by bahtandsold »

Just spent a few days in lovely Hua Hin, as I do every month and as always, it was great (had to do a bit of work too but that's ok). Anyways, here we are in the dog days of low season and STILL, I couldn't get a parking spot anywhere in the hin... :(

Every parking space was taken up by seemingly permanently parked cars, with a 'Taxi for hire' sign on the windows. Had to pay a guy at the City beach hotel to park while I ran across to burger king to grab a quick bite (hey, i was hungry...) .

With the Tesco Lotus superstore, bowling center, Cineplex, HomePro and index living malls currently under construction, there's going to be even more traffic coming to Hua hin very soon and something needs to be done methinks. Surely the Thessaban is aware of this blemish on otherwise idyllic HH? Thoughts?

PS: forget the 'park the car' and take transit option- not practical for me and just count the Merc's from bangkok every weekend. THAT crowd ain't getting on any bus or train (except maybe the Orient express)- ever.

That ones easy

Leave your car outside hua hin and hire a vespa !!

and yes the bangkok posers are a pain in the ass but they have no common sence or regard for any one but them selves
they got the flash car and they want to pose in it ,SO SAD !
pitty they've got 15 years of payments to make on it

Yep, simple answer to that one ... Blame Bangkok :guns:

I think they should only allow cars with Prachuab license plates to park here

 hehehe...but Lev, they DO! In fact, ONLY cars which are permanently parked (with taxi hire signs) and PKK license plates seem to be allowed to clog every public street... :(

I was sitting in a bar on Nebkahabs (sic) the other day and noticed that new parking signs were being put up. Admittedly, they only denoted the direction in which vehicles should park. As if anyone took any notice of that anyway, although I have seen people getting tickets in the past. It would at least hopefully reduce the amount of dangerous "leaving a parking area" manoeuvers that occur, ie into a traffic flow that you can't see coming towards you. Then again, who looks here anyway?
Another pet hate is the motorcycle parking. When will people realise that pavements are meant for pedestrians.
I wouldn't want to be a traffic planning executive in HH!! :guns:

Read in the local paper last week that the Tessabhan are well aware of the taxi problem and are thinking of ways to stop this ploblem, translated nothing is going to happen for sometime.
