We see a lot of these death announcements but this one really shocked me. A truly great actress and a lovely lady.

Yes, although it was lovely to be able see her so many times on my TV in Downton. The Lady in the Van was her best late in life role. I never saw her on stage (her last theatre performance was only five years ago) but it's said she was even more spellbinding in the theatre. Other actors were scared of her, sharp tongued and critical of less than perfect performances!
