Banking apps - scan to pay time limits?

Why does my Bangkok bank app scan payment feature stop working at 1130pm?

And is it my bank, all banks or the establishment I'm in(or a combination of all things)?

I've a hunch that it's notably worse in one particular place whereas I'm sure it's worked in others around that time

I get a message saying "inelligible payee" but before 1130pm it's fine

I've never had a problem scanning after midnight. In fact I've even scanned using BKK app when I was in the UK. I'd pop into your bank and see if they can give you an answer.

I had the same problem a few months ago, but it seems to be ok now. The last 5 weeks I have scanned "everywhere" and not one single issue. In shopping malls or in bars.

As best as I know right now this particular establishment is the only place it happens, but it doesn't happen before 1130 pm ish. It's happened at least 20 times over last few months.

I may contact my bank as suggested, thanks

Never had that problem with the K-bank app. The ability to scan after midnight usually ends up with more spending than I usually would, however.

That's maybe worth a thread in another forum here ....

I used my card to scan at around 4am this month in a bar with all lights turned out on one of my rare forays into the underbelly of HH. We'd run out of cash. I think my debit card-linked Grab got my friend and I home safely (and girl free) although it's possible that the bar cashier ordered the taxi for us, I could check my transactions but hey.

But I haven't done it 20 times over the last few months!

Back on topic: The regular failure of scans late at night sounds more like a problem in the establishment's system than a bank-related thing.

Are you connected to the establishments wifi? Does it happen if you are using your own mobile data?

Might be a network issue moreso than an app issue or bank issue.

When I had this problem I only observed it in two bars in Soil 94. I tried both WiFi and 5G. Same problem.

I'm using my mobile data.

I agree with the theory that it's coming from the establishment's bank/Internet connection and not my Bangkok Bank app

It's almost as if they've actually set it up not to take payments after 1130 pm but god knows why they'd do that

I tried to pay my tab at Rock Zone last night at about 11:45 pm. Bangkok Bank scan. It didn’t work on three attempts. I was using my mobile data. Thank goodness I had some cash on me, or I woulda been in the back cleaning bar glasses all night!

No. It said something like ‘unable to process’. This is the third time it has happened to me in about the last six months. All of those transactions were around midnight.
