That would fit with 2 or 3 of the speed tickets I received. The angle was aiming up at the car and located in the central reservation. The camera must have been close to the ground......well spotted! I mentioned before that each of six photos has a green spot located centrally which I guess is a laser......

Unbelievably I received yet another speeding ticket (no. 7) in the post yesterday!! The offence driving at 127 kph in the 80 zone on the 15 July. Now the thing is that I have been religiously keeping to the speed limit in this section of the road over the last month. I even set my cruise control to 80kph before I get to the first 80 limit road sign. I have to say I am incredibly sceptical about this latest ticket...... has anyone else had this experience?

Incidentally I mentioned my speeding ticket experience to a neighbour last night. He told me he receives speeding tickets regularly through the post only to throw them in the bin! Apparently he hasn't received any follow up action..........I am the only schmuck who actually pays his fines ???

BM, you could have been clocked at a different location that has a similar speed limit. These zones are typically near a u-turn or T-junction, where the limit is reduced from the normal 90.
As B6PTW says, they're pretty fair (yes, I know ) when posting fines to your house. Even with a radar detector, I've had one or two show up in my mailbox. One was for going a little faster than I should have (trying to overtake a slower vehicle), and another for crossing a yellow box, shot from behind, trying to beat the 3,000 other drivers trying to get across the lanes from the outer ring road and the one going to the airport.
I just pay my fines and get on with my day. They can interfere with your next road tax renewal if left unpaid.
Side note: your car speedometer typically reads a few km/h more than the actual speed, it is a requirement believe it or not. So, just slow down a little, you'll get to wherever you're going to eventually.

That's why your GPS will always give a slower speed than your speedo. GPS speed is more accurate of course.

Just an update - there is now an 80 kph limit on the northbound road. When passing the shops at Soi 126 heading north towards Hua Hin there is a new road sign stating 80 limit and warning of cameras just before the University entrance. You can easily miss the road sign as it is the smallest size ever. Why make the sign so small ? It's only half the size of the signs on the southbound road!! There seems to be only one road sign so I've no idea for how far the restriction runs.....another money spinner no doubt!

That sign has been there for a while - at least as long as I've been looking for your speed cameras. As you say, probably the smallest size ever. I can actually understand the restriction due to its closeness to the university entrance. However, I think the next sign is the 60KPH opposite Vana Nava.

One of my (many) pet hates. Setting a speed limit, but rarely notifying where it ends.

Yes that is the next road sign Big Boy. Actually I can understand the speed restriction near the University entrance as I have seen many accidents at that junction usually involving motor cycles crossing the carriageway. But if the reason is road safety at an accident black spot why make the road sign so small ? ?

Something I've been meaning to ask for a few weeks. Has anybody else noticed all of the mini cameras scattered around the Soi 91/116 junction on Petchkasem Road. I've never seen so many cameras in such a small space. Any idea what they are for?

There is a similar situation at the Soi 35 junction near the palace, but not quite as many.

From what I know, these cameras are mostly there for traffic monitoring and surveillance. This area is a major route in Bangkok, so the cameras help the authorities keep track of traffic conditions.

I've also seen a similar setup at the Soi 35 junction near the palace, though there are fewer cameras there. It's clear that the use of these cameras is part of a broader effort to improve public safety and traffic management in the city

There are so many, I'd be very surprised if it were just traffic monitoring and surveillance. I'll try to count them next time I'm stopped there, but I'd say easily 2 dozen cameras on that 1 junction (maybe my memory is wrong).

New speed limits for Bangkok drivers

The Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) has set a new maximum speed limit of 60 kilometres per hour for most roads in the city, exempting major thoroughfares, and 50kph near the Grand Palace, effective immediately.

The MPB said the new regulation, published in Royal Gazette on Monday, would improve traffic discipline and reduce road accidents in residential areas. It took effect on Tuesday.

The new 60kph speed limit applies to all but 13 major roads. The exempt roads are:
