Sukhumvit (Bangkok) Through The Years

Post by PeteC »

As we're talking about Bangkok today, I though this article and photos may be interesting to some. Especially those who were around these parts back then.

"Bangkok is one of the world’s premier metropolitan cities, but it hasn’t always been this way.

As we’ll see, by taking a trip in time down the Sukhumvit Line.

Here are some revealing photos of Bangkok past and present."........

Pete,
thanks that article brought back some memories. Makes me think I should be digging out my box of old travel photos.

The Russians were not so blatant as the Americans with their CIA office headquaters. Instead it was suggested by some that the old Aeroflot office on the corner of Suriwong and Patpong1 played a part in the ongoing spook games. Never saw a single soul ever going in the front door.
I used to drop by Bobby's Arms for my regular fish and chips basket around the back on Patpong 2 where there were often the same guys sitting sipping on a beer in convenient positions with a good view of the back lane entry of the airline office. Pretty obvious what was going down there.
Complexity is so simply overrated
