New Fishing Lake? Black Mountain Water Park

Post by Big Boy »

Firstly, apologies for the hazy photos - difficulty in capturing the images at distance. Hopefully you can see enough.

I've been at Black Mountain the last couple of days, and have noticed the Wake Board facility at Black Mountain Water Park seems to have stopped working.

On Wednesday there were at least 16 groups of fishermen around the lake. Probably less than 10 yesterday.

This is quite a large lake, and I'd imagine it holds quite a lot of fish. Does anybody know if the lake is still controlled by Black Mountain Water Park, and they are charging for the facility? Or is it just a bunch of opportunists looking for their supper?

I pass by that way quite often when I’m in Hua Hin and I haven’t seen the wake board thing run for some time although the facility seems to be maintained and there is often a vehicle parked there.
It’s a pity because I used to often visit the cafe there and have a snack and drink in the afternoon watching people do tricks, or fall off!
I’ve no idea if fishing is an activity there but I noticed that there is a new upmarket housing area being constructed behind.

I've never seen anyone on the water there in 8 years and I've driven past it many times. I think it's unapproved free fishing, and I'd say there are no large fish at all, well that's what a Thai taxi driver and fisherman told me in April.

I've definitely seen people wake boarding there a few times.

If only small fish, I won't be tempted then.

I doubt very much they would go to the expense of stocking the lake unless they were offering a paying activity. Hua Hin Fishing Lodge is still your best local option (I love it there just to see how miserable Terry is today, makes me feel better...) :D

Yes, that is what I was basically asking - have they stocked it to make it a viable fishing lake? I'm assuming the lack of response means no.

Maybe the fishermen are the workers from the development that is being built behind there.

If you look at the first photo, there seem to be a few cars parked as if their owners may be fishing.

^Looking at your pictures again, they do seem to have a lot of gear and look more like fishing enthusiasts rather than casual anglers.
