Although it’s easy to criticise, it’s not difficult to understand why the Junta are making the claims that they have about lockdowns when you read articles like this - the “experts” in the UK are raising concerns about the Omicron strain of Covid and the response that may be required in tackling it https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-59484322
That's a smidgen harsh IMHO DB - I'm confident that the "expertise" of those advising the UK government is somewhat superior to my own, yours or millions of others.
These guys in the UK and their equals throughout the world have an incredibly difficult (well, virtually impossible) job to do. At this stage no-one can know the effect that Omicron or subsequent mutations/variants will have. Contingency plans have to be put in place and populations must accept the real possibility of Lockdowns whether they be in the near/immediate future or further down the line.
In all fairness, governments/government advisors are in a no win situation - blamed/abused over Lockdowns, blamed/abused when there's a spread of the virus due to NOT locking down.........
I for one have suffered from Covid and continue to do so - I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Despite being fully vaccinated (including Booster jab), these mutations make me very nervous.
I think you misunderstood my intentions (you wouldn’t be the first to misinterpret somebody’s post)!! What I meant to infer, is that if the UK “experts” are casting concerns over the new Omicron strain of Covid, you can hardly blame Thailands junta for following in their footsteps and looking to impose further restrictions here in Thailand. I have nothing but admiration for the scientists who carry out their research into this dreaded disease to help keep us as safe as is possible.
