You can book in for the morning, walk in after 12pm

Really well organised, we arrived at 8am, all finished by 9am.

Second jab in a month.

As stated above, my Farang friends walked in yesterday with no problem. Took them a little longer - about 2 hours.

The family had their 2nd AZ shot organised by the BCCT in BKK yesterday. What started out as a relatively small operation has grown somewhat with many more people there. However, appointments were adhered to and we were in and out in under an hour (including the 30 min observation). Vaccine certificate with the relevant QR codes issued on completion.

Ways eyed to boost jab rate
The Ministry of Public Health said it will ask the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) to introduce compulsory measures to persuade more unvaccinated people to get their Covid shots.

The move aims to meet the goal of Thailand having administered 100 million doses this year before the end of the month, according to Dr Sopon Mekthon, assistant to the public health minister and chairman of the government's sub-committee on Covid-19 vaccine management.

So far the government has provided about 85 million doses of vaccine leaving it 15 million doses shy of the target. It plans to introduce compulsory measures to help shore up the campaign, such as only allowing vaccinated people to access public places.

If these measures are approved, the Department of Disease Control will iron out the details, Dr Sopon said.

Meanwhile, certain authorities are proposing incentives to boost vaccination rates, with the Transport Ministry planning to offer a 20% discount on fares for inoculated passengers. A number of public health centres in some provinces are also offering lucky draws to encourage people to get jabs.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Wednesday described getting vaccinated as a social responsibility to create a safe environment.

"Society will define its own rules on whether to allow unvaccinated people to enter premises," he said.

Mr Anutin hasn't got a clue and just contradicted himself - society doesn't have a choice under an autocratic regime. They would have been much closer to their target if they stopped peddling Sinocrap a lot earlier in the vaccine rollout.

Thailand isn’t alone in taking measures to “persuade” the unvaccinated to get vaccinated - many countries in Europe are imposing restrictions on those not vaccinated. The UK has issued a decree that all NHS staff should be vaccinated by April 2022 or not be allowed to serve in front-line positions. Europe is currently seeing a huge increase in people testing positive so something has to be done if we are ever to get away from this dreaded disease and the restrictions we all face!!

As for Sinovac, it may not be the best vaccine on the market, but more and more countries (including the UK) now recognise it when considering whether people are fully vaccinated.

The longer large numbers remain unvaccinated, the longer we’ll all have to put up with wearing masks and all of the other precautions/restrictions.

Frontline hospital workers are a little different to regular folk who may have genuine reasons for not having it - I agree, hospital staff should be vaxed.

The problem here is that the junta have been treating the people like idiots from day one. If they'd had offered a choice of different jabs from the start and not forced Sinovac down their throats or screwed up the deployment of AZ, more people would have taken their shots and they would have hit their targets. Sinovac has a very bad rep here, is ineffective against delta, and clearly, a lot of people (about 25 million of them) didn't want it.

Austria is placing millions of people not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in lockdown as of today as Europe becomes the epicentre of the pandemic once again.

Anyone over the age of 12 who has not been double-jabbed is now only allowed to leave their homes for work, school, exercise and buying essential supplies - with the lockdown affecting about two million of Austria's 8.9 million population.

Restrictions against the unvaccinated are happening elsewhere. I can only see this becoming more of the 'norm'.
