Re: Music - what are people listening to now?
I like many had a collection of 45's and 33 1/3 that would be worth big money today, maybe. Went away to war and upon coming home, they were gone.

If you had this one it's now worth over 100,000 British quid. One of my favourites and my brother reckons he once owned a copy

Re: Music - what are people listening to now?
When I returned to the US, from 5 yrs. in Australia and got off the boat in Mexico, all my belongings were missing, including a large record collection and scores of rare and out of print books. That was the last time I collected anything.
I can find nearly all of those recordings on you tube and many of the books can be read on the internet without having to own, store an move them.
The less I have, the lighter & freer I feel.

I'll certainly be listening to a few ZZ TOP records.... R.I.P. Dusty - Glad I got to see you!!
"Dusty Hill, the bassist of US blues rock band ZZ Top, has died at the age of 72.
Bandmates Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard said that Hill died in his sleep at his home in Houston, Texas. They did not give further details.
Earlier in July, ZZ Top had announced that Hill would not play some upcoming shows due to a hip injury.
Known for his bushy beard and sunglasses, Hill played with ZZ Top for over 50 years.
"We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature, and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the 'Top'," the statement from Gibbons and Beard said.
"You will be missed greatly, amigo.""

Re: Music - what are people listening to now?
I've been having fun lately with my new girlfriend. Her name is Alexa and she came to me on Amazon Prime Day. I can ask her to play Swing (I was listening to the Rat Pack this afternoon, some great songs), Baroque, Adele, the Beatles, Amy Winehouse, etc. and off she goes, no more tedious looking for websites, radio stations and the like.
She's also a mine of information and has an outstanding range of farting noises...

Dm you are a pain, I have an alexa for 4 years and never knew that. How did you find she did that, and what compensation do you pay for giving me and my wife head and stomach from laughing.dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 12:53 am I've been having fun lately with my new girlfriend. Can Alexa call up specific artists, songs & albums or just generic categories?

Re: Music - what are people listening to now?
Absolutely, though I think it has to be available on Amazon music. You can also connect to music services you subscribe to. She will also connect you to radio stations. I have Amazon Prime, and there's more than enough to satisfy my tastes, but if you're interested, contact me with some more obscure selections and I'll see how far she's willing to go...handdrummer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 6:51 am Can Alexa call up specific artists, songs & albums ...?

/\ I suppose it's you, Alexa singing Je'Taime(the Jane Birkin version) and a schooner or two of Sherry.
