Wow, some very sour grapes here. It's not rocket science guys, got a few extra bob during a pandemic, who should I invest my money with?

REALLY??? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

On May 20, 64, Mr. Chanin Rungthanakiat Pheu Thai Party's Deputy spokesperson (PAD) discussed the case of Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health. Delegate policies to provincial health doctors and the provincial governors Manage AstraZeneca Vaccination To be shipped in a month June onwards from the original: 1 bottle of vaccine can be injected 10 doses, you need to make 12 doses to save the budget.

Not the best translation, but you should understand. I find it so unbelievable, it must be bordering on FAKE News?

Or is this a common medical practice?

Sinovac only, which might explains why not many are turning up.
And Prayut stopped it on concerns of safety with huge numbers turning up at once!!!
Well, no actually. It seems 4 locations in Bkk are continuing. They are all being run by medical professionals, not volunteers. So if you are in the vicinity of The Mall Bang Kapi and 3 other locations, then chance your arm. but bear in mind there is an outbreak at the market in Bang Kapi, very near to The Mall, as indeed there was in the very first outbreak, last year. Good to see lessons were learned.

In Britain they’ve been getting one extra dose out of each vial for both AZ and Pfizer, it seems. (My nephew got one of these extra shots)

I think I read or saw on the news last year that it depends on the type of syringes in use. The right type can use all doses in the vial, other types can't. So early on in the UK doses were being wasted.

This is from the vaccine documentation of Victoria State Department of Health.
After withdrawing 8 or 10 full 0.5mL doses from the vial (depending on vial size), it may be possible to withdraw an additional full dose if low dead space needles and syringes are being used.

To me this reads that you could get 11 (not 12) doses from a 10 dose vial.

Could Anutin be wrong? Again?

It wouldn't be much work for the USA and UK to ship in several thousand doses to have administered at their embassies. The Thai Gov. really can't say no can they, after allowing China to do it.

The USA is awash with extra vaccine. I think at least 8 million doses are being donated to somewhere, perhaps India.

The Thai government has said it will vaccinate Thais before inoculating most other foreigners, regardless of risk factors or age.
Another contradictory statement from the government. I wish a definitive statement could be released over-riding all other statements from various departments. But ....... TIT.

CCSA have again said there's a lot of crap being reported. They go on to say, if it's not from the CCSA the information is suspect. Make what you will of that.

There is nothing definitive here, this is the land of hedge our bets.

If a definitive statement is made and it was proven to be incorrect, there would be a loss of face and that would be intolerable.

Lying is acceptable, being wrong is not acceptable.

That is why Thai's are never wrong.*

Please make a poster of that * and hang it in your house, it will save you a lot of grief and curtail all arguments.

A welcome step would be a published order instructing all depts other than the CCSA from releasing any statements regarding vaccinations. It should be pointed out (to them) that by making such statements they are exceeding their authority and if they continue to do so, then they will be taken to task.

But in the mean time you can just ignore anything if it doesn’t come from the CCSA
