Nonthaburi are relaxing restrictions from tomorrow 15th allowing many more shops/businesses to open.

Except of course shops selling alcohol!

Here in Hua Hin where the virus has been absent for weeks, lock down remains ongoing.

Yet Prachuap, with just a handful of reported cases, has one of the strictest lockdown policies ... :banghead:

Seems to be a pattern emerging here with red areas:
Bangkok - Huge population density
Phuket/Chonburi - Affluent population (overseas travel) and tourist hotspots
Deep south - Muslim population, mosques, no social distancing

Chonburi officials earmark 1 May for lifting of restrictions and partial return to normality
The date is dependent on the COVID-19 situation in the province continuing to improve.

In an order released late on Tuesday, officials said that if the COVID-19 situation does not worsen then most businesses can resume trading.

Some of the business types listed included spas, gyms, restaurants, bars and convenience stores.

Also on Wednesday, officials said that some businesses - mainly electronic stores and mobile phone repair shops can resume trading immediately, providing they put social distancing measures in place.

While a return to the pre-COVID-19 days can’t come soon enough for businesses and workers, it may be several months before Pattaya is open to international tourists and restrictions are lifted fully.

The news comes as health officials in Thailand suggested that restrictions can be eased in some areas, provided it is not done all at once and everywhere.

Due to the recent drop in new COVID-19 cases, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha chaired a meeting which could signal an easing of restrictions for businesses forced to close during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking to The Nation, Dr Amorn Leelarasamee, president of the Medical Association of Thailand said the lifting of some restrictions is possible, but social distancing must continue to be practiced.

Chonburi were one of the first to open up their shopping malls from 14th (yesterday). If all goes well, they will lift remaining restrictions on May 1st.
Chonburi’s lockdown will be lifted on May 1 if there is no change in the Covid-19 situation, according to the province’s public relations office.

The office announced on Wednesday (April 15) via Facebook that at-risk venues ordered to close in March would be able reopen on May 1 as scheduled. Those venues include pubs, bars, massage parlours, spas, beauty salons, cinemas, fitness clubs, cockfight and boxing stadiums, water parks, game centres, amulet markets, snooker and golf clubs, department stores, parks, passport offices, convenience stores, nurseries, restaurants, cafes, shops selling alcohol, flea markets, beaches, Chonlamak Withi 84 Phansa Causeway, Koh Larn and Koh Sichang islands, and other tourist attractions.

There was nothing "reopened" in Chonburi yesterday to our knowledge. Is there a link for that announcement?

Here's what was said and reopened: ....." Speaking at an April 14 meeting at the Chonburi Public Health Department, the governor gave the go-ahead for immediate reopening of electronics and appliance stores inside shopping malls. The order principally is aimed at restoring service at mobile phone and computer shops, two items that have become crucial in the age of remote work and learning, as well as social distancing.".......

That was reported in the Nation: The actual wording was:
Chonburi malls among first in country to reopen
Chonburi was among the first provinces in the country to partially lift its lockdown on Wednesday (April 14) as some shops reopened.
Shops in malls permitted to open for business from Tuesday (April 14) included banks and finance-related outlets, smartphone repair centres, supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants (takeaway service only) and zones selling electrical appliances, kitchenware, computers or construction equipment and related items.

Yes, thanks. Here's the link: https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30386048

Edit: They just found that an infected person was in Foodland at Pier 21 in Pattaya on April 5. Warning has gone out for anyone that was in there, and I would suspect that Foodland and that Mall will close again for cleaning.

At Wat Suan Kaew temple north of Bangkok, dozens of worshippers waited patiently to pour water over the abbot's hands -- an act Buddhists believe will wash away past misdeeds.

Abbot Prayom Kullayano is separated from them with a two-metre-long bamboo pole acting as a funnel, a "new innovation" by his temple, he said.

Please try to keep this thread focused on "Precautions". I've just moved all the posts about the 5,000 Baht payments over to Coronavirus (Covid-19) News. Thanks.

Can air-con spread Covid-19?
A research letter published by Guangzhou Centres for Disease Control in China looked at 10 coronavirus cases of 3 families who ate in adjacent tables at the same time. The study proposes that droplet transmission by the restaurant’s air conditioning system was increased. The initial patient arrived from Wuhan and dined at the restaurant with 3 family members.

Two other families sat nearby. Later that day, the initial patient felt ill and checked into the hospital where he tested positive for Covid 19. Shortly thereafter, the two other families tested positive. The windowless restaurant had an air-con vent on one side of the room, and an outflow vent on the other. The families dined in the restaurant for around an hour in close proximity.

The study discovered that virus transmission in this outbreak could not be explained by droplet transmission alone stating, “Larger respiratory droplets remain in the air for only a short time and travel only short distances, generally. The distances between the initial patient and persons at other tables were all less than 1 metre. Therefore, strong airflow from the air conditioner could have propagated droplets from table to table “.

Look at the pics of THOUSANDS of people queuing for free rice at the Don Muang Temple.
A great example of 'social distancing' in Thailand!
