Low Beer Prices in Funny Girl

Post by tuktukmike »

At last maybe those of us who live in Hua Hin are going to get the same beer prices as Pattaya

Ok its only a start but maybe others will follow, Funny Girl bar are now having Happy Days.

Heineken for only 50bht, and all the others ie chang, tiger, singha all reduced in price.

This is not a plug for Funny Girl Bar as i use others too, but i hope that at last we may soon have the same competition as they have in Pattaya.

Afterall we all know the supermarket prices so come on you bar owners, roll out the special offers, after all it is low season.

I have mentioned this before but no more plugs please.

We have to be fair to our current advertisers and not let ones that are not willing to help us out have free promotion!

However I'll let this one run for now Mike as you know I like my beer and cheaper nectar is never a bad thing.

I wouldn't care to pay 5-10 Bath more either, if the atmosphere is OK, the girls are worth a look and nice.

Hey Hey Shadow,

I dont mind paying 5-10bht more, but this is 20bht lower than i pay in most bars.

Like i was saying I think we all know that in Pattaya most bars have Happy Hours that seem to last all day and most of the night, what i could never understand was why the same thing never seems to happen here?????

You would almost think there was an agreement between bars which i know there is not.

If you consider the low cost of living in Thailand which is one of the things that attracts us, then why are we paying 70bht ie £1.00 for half a beer.

Also remember that the profit margin per bottle is much greater here to the landlord or bar owner than the UK and most other European countries.

So what i am hoping is that this may be the start of a new trend for Hua Hin.

Ps, as i said it really was not a plug, but if you dont get the news out there then nothing changes. :thumb:

Actually tuktuk, when I first came here 7 years ago to run a bar on Bintabart, fixing the drink prices for the whole soi was actually what happened. I wanted to initiate a happy hour, but the gf warned me that it would lead to trouble.
As you say, I don't think it goes on now.
Cartels rule OK

I think the beer price reflects the bar owners situation, with a high season of only three months, maybe four they have to make their money for the whole year last. The main problem being that there are too many bars and not enough tourists, this year will see again a lot of bars fail in their first year reopen and fail again. The bills are the same if you have one punter or twenty.

I hear of rents of thirty thou a month, that's a lot of beer, and cutting margins is not really the answer, if your bar is good and you advertise it well people will come, the main thing to remember is location, location, location. If a bar has a rent over twenty five thou it had better be big with thirty plus seats.

As most people that post live in the town there is always going to be a call for lower prices, bars maybe should consider a loyalty card system. I know of a few bars that have bucked the trend so to speak and have invested in expensive items, such as American pool tables and the like and can't charge even five baht a game because the bar down the soi with the crappy pool table, ripped cloth and concrete bed lets their punters play for free.

Recent trip to NEP Chang small 100 baht, on the islands Heineken small 120 baht.

I remember lev saying that 5-10bht was a lot if you are drinking 16 or more beers a night.

Then i had a thought, if the price drops by 20bht it means that the reduction covers the bar fine for your girl that night.

So if you drink 50 beers at this discount then you are also getting the girl for a night for free. :P :P :P

So in total drink 65 beers at 20bht discount and the bar fine and cost for girl costs you nothing.

Not that this affects me of course, :( :(

Hows about that Lev. :thumb:

And what do you propose to do with this girl after 50 beers?

Lev

I would do nothing, as you know not a heavy drinker and also accounted for.

So maybe as a previous post said how about a loyalty scheme for those who do indulge.

My idea would be like Air Miles, You would get points for every beer so when you have enough you could redeem them for the girl of your choice.

This means that for you who drinks 16 beers on a night out you would soon be able to take your choice.

Anyway think about it and maybe the local bar owners would like to respond on this one.
