Jockey,

I agree with your assessment of England's ranking. However, those that know disagree with us http://www.fifa.com/en/mens/statistics/ ... eid=118178

A team ranked at 5th in the world should not be on a run of so many poor results. Its not just the one hiccup - its every match since McLaren took charge. The guy has never achieved anything in major football, with his best showing getting to the final of the European Losers cup - true to form, he lost that as well.

The England players have the skill, they just need a good motivator in charge of them to get them believing in themselves, and working as a single effective force. Watching the post match interviews, I somehow don't see McLaren fitting that bill.

The FA should not be waiting for England football to fade away in to the wilderness of football. They need to act now before its too late.

Most teams in the groups have 7 games left to play.
There's a hell of a lot that can happen over 7 games.

England need to sort themselves fast.

Scotland are away to Italy next, who have a game in hand, anything can happen to either countries.

England have went from 10th to 5th. With recent results taken into consideration they will fall back, which is more or less what I said!

I hate to say it but so far under this new manager I've seen nothing that gives me a feel good factor. Many players being played out of their natural positions. Some players shouldn't even be in the team and maybe it's just me, but on last nights performance, England's "world class" players are nowhere near good enough. 10/15 years ago players like Downing, Phil Neville, Andy Johnson, Carragher and Robinson would have had to rely on Grandpa Seamus or Granny O'Shea for International football. :guns:

Where does the future lie, not many natural 'English' players to pick from the top teams, mostly they play for teams on a losing stretch, against the multi international money spenders who buy titles and cups in this all for who pays the highest, league we are involved in. Limit the foriegn players per club - per match and start educating our home grown for the future, or there will be none to sing about. If we carry on as it is, I think all our best premier teams will be contesting for the top European honours every year, but our national squad will never be anywhere near that status.

I'm rather of the opinion that if you want a ball chased around a field, you are better off paying a foriegner to do it!

When you earn 100,000 pounds a week playing for your club...why risk breaking a leg playing for your country ?..I'm afraid money is the main motivator now...pride in playing for your country , once you get a few caps, holds no great advantage now....sad but true...

If you sack the manager now who are you going to replace him with?
Most of the top men are gainfully employed by clubs or countries who are chasing honours or qualification at this time of the season.
The scheduling of the Euro Championships leaves a lot to be desired with the season reaching a climax and Man Utd and Chelsea involved in chasing silverware on 3 fronts and Liverpool chasing the Champions League.
England are to play 3 of their last 4 games at home how the hell did that come about?
Glory! Glory! Man Utd.

I don't know a single proper football fan who cares or talks in public about rankings.
League positions yes.

FIFA/UEFA rankings aren't worth a W@&%

I agree, why can Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney and co be world class'ish in the league but appear crap when they play for England ?

Plus I reckon we are now feeling the full affects of too many foreigners in England and young English players not coming through. Not that I disagree, I'd rather have an entertaining Premiership than seeing England do better.

I believe England will nopt sack MClaren as yet.

But if they sack him they can hire Juergen Klinsmann If he's not already taken and if the English FA accepts his demands of rotating around between England and Californua. The German DFB have accepted it that he would pace around, but the German Public was not to keen about the Idea.

I think Klinsi did good of quitting the German national team after the Workd CUp. Right @ the Zenith of his career. He's a Legend in the German Football scene.

England will Qualify for the EC in Audtria and Sitzserland!!!
Otherwise It will be Boring!!!

There must be many people with similar or better qualifications who would be willing to do the job for less money. However, that's not the point. If you want to plumb your house, but no plumber is available, do you employ an electrician instead?

The problem is that the FA have employed a boy to do a man's job.

Surely, no manager would be better than the clown currently in charge. They could give me the job for half of McLaren's salary. I might be useless at it, but at least they'd be saving money. They need to sack him now, and bide their time until the right man (or woman) comes along. Their results can't get any worse with nobody in charge.

For some inexplicable reason, England, the wealthiest football association on the planet, contrive to appoint the wrong man. Having interviewed Martin O’Neill, they appointed Steve McClaren, a nice chap, who was a useful understudy to Sir Alex Ferguson. I am sure when Steve put the cones out for training, they were all pointy side up, but this is hardly a qualification to run an aspirational international team. You and I both knew, in fact everyone in Britain apart from the FA International Committee knew, that McClaren was destined to be next to rob England of its football virility with slow, lingering banality. He has an abundance of gifted players to choose from, but cannot squeeze a result out of them. You want the same people that appointed him to sack him and find someone else? Surely they can't be trusted again!

England fans need to stop believing the press hype and accept that we are average on the world, and even European, stage.

Our players don't want to put in the same effort that they do for their club for whatever reason.

Being a Spurs fan I've accepted this long long ago, but some fellow England fans remind me of many fellow Spurs fans, living off past glories, thinking we're still a top team.

WE ARE VERY AVERAGE - KOW CHAI MAI ?

Our comfort is we are better than all our neighbours, even if one of them is temporarily top of their group. That's just a moment in time, let them enjoy their moment in the sun.
