Is this the reason that the winds have been so strong over the last few days?
The afternoon winds this year have been the strongest I can ever recall.

Heatwave, water shortages forecast this dry season

https://www.bangkokpost.com/news/genera ... recent_box

Temperatures in some areas are expected to hit 42°C this dry season, with farmers already being warned to prepare for a prolonged water shortage.

Meteorological Department deputy director-general Thanasith Iamananchai has warned of a long dry spell lasting until mid-May.

"Farmers are advised to manage water as rainfall will be below a 30-year average," he told officials and farmer representatives in Pho Prathap Chang district, Phichit, on Wednesday.

He did not predict dates, but the Meteorological Department website said temperatures could reach the 42°C mark next month in the northern, northeastern and upper central regions.

The Royal Irrigation Office has put up a large sign at the Chao Phraya Dam in Chai Nat asking that farmers help conserve water supplies and maintain the ecosystem by not planting off-season crops.

The message was posted as the water level in the dam reservoir continues to drop. It stands at 15.42 metres above mean sea level, down from 16.51 metres on the same day a year ago.

On the other side of the coast it is calm and mild - some clouds but no wind and no sign of rain (that some forecasts were predicting).

^ It's all moving east to west so perhaps it will make it over there.

Yes, we have quite a few visitors arriving at the moment. They're all asking me why it's pouring down in Bangkok. The answer, of course. is simple. Bangkok is not Hua Hin

Laptop with cell phone tethered as a personal hotspot via USB using our True 4G account. It's unfortunate but get to use the internet many times that way in the course of one rainy season.

Well, in this part of Hua Hin it's still raining steadily. Just got power back after an hour's outage.

Strange how some people dread the thought of rain, whereas others welcome it - I’m in the latter group and hopefully it will turn our yellow grass to a slightly more green colour

Yes, I welcome the rain as well and I'm also in Tap Tai and where I am, there has been intermittent rain since about 10am. Much of it as drizzle.
