Based in Huahin, visit Krabi and Phuket

I'm coming back toHuahin again shortly, but this time I'd like to make a short trip to Phuket and possibly Krabi. There are some posts about VIP buses to Phuket but some of this information is quite old.
It would seem theKrabi trip would be a train a taxi and then a bus.
To Phuket it would seem that there is a VIP bus in the evenings, I don't know what time or what cost I believe it takes 9 to 10 hours.
I have researched as much as I can, I'm hoping for some first-hand experience.

Find anything about bus scams in Surat Thani? If not, search for it.

Everytime I took that train it was from 45min to 2 hrs late arriving Hua Hin. It's a 9km tuk tuk ride from the station to Surat Thani town. After reading about scams, contemplate what that ride will cost and the odds you'll be taken to where you want to go.
