The radar showed the whole thing running right into your beachfront. I guess it had lost steam coming across the Gulf.

This was one of my favourite restaurants, Scandinavian food. The water was all the way up to the balcony on the left and undermined the entire restaurant structure. What isn't in the pic is a major bridge which is now totally closed and needs to be replaced. That's where the photographer was standing near when he took this pic. What a mess this morning. ENOUGH! Pete

EDIT: At the far right end of the photo is the sea...about another 20 meters.

I guess it was stormy at sea last night?

Yesterday I walked the beach around 10 am and it was as clean as normal. Today it was too hot so I went at 4.30 and the entire tide line was awash with rubbish washed ashore.

This happens a few times every year and although there is a fair amount of plastic and bottles, as usual the majority of the waste is natural, not man made. Tree branches, bamboo, coconut, leaves etc form the bulk of the waste. What was not in abundance this time is footwear! Normally a lot of odd flip flops and sandals are among the rubbish or maybe they had been collected already for re cycling.

Ouch - I'll be down there in about 2 hours with the dogs. I'd better make sure my torch is well charged.

100% correct. I've seen it a lot worse, but quite unpleasant nonetheless. Not a flip flop in sight :D .

The one thing you didn't mention, and it was very prevalent tonight, was the thousands, probably millions of eggs washed ashore. They were averaging about 3/4" long and 1/4" wide and were white (maybe clear, but appeared white in the torchlight). In places they were very concentrated and the beach was very slippery (I almost went on my arse twice). Never seen anything like this before - just like walking on the ice in the UK. We walked about 3 miles, and they were everywhere.

The eggs BB could have been squid eggs. They look like you describe. Pete

Yes, those are the ones Pete :thumb:

James, it was heavy rain, but thankfully, it's stopped now. I would guess significant flooding.
