Just to update on this problem.

Thanks a lot for the info Buksi.
I looked up the sites you mentioned and I just couldn't get my head around where to find my profile and then export it or relocate it.
Then I stumbled across a piece of freeware called MozBackup.
It's a very small program and will find your profile in Thunderbird or Firefox, compress it to a single file and you can then import it into a new program or computer.
Makes the whole thing child's play!!

Yes, have been using it for a while. Just be careful if the files gets too large (over 5GB) as restoring it can sometimes be problematic.

Another way to import/export mailboxes is with this Thunderbird extension: http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonk ... porttools/

Adware

Post by LolaBeltran »

This is the second time in a month that I have picked up an "adware" program.

How can these be blocked? The first was "ads by Daugava" This one I was able to find and remove with a simple uninstall in my programs folder. How I got it I dont know. and it hasnt come back. .. .yet

Now I have something called "Ads by Lasuperba" and I cant find it listed in my programs and hence can not get rid of it so easily.

Any suggestions? I have googled around for free removal downloads but some of them sound scarier than the adware. I installed adblock Plus on my Google Chrome but it appears I have to use it to block every ad every time I log on.

Just a link to a reliable, legit adware removal website that someone has used . .and hopefully for free. . .would be wonderful. Thanks.

i don't know anything about viruses or adware because i own a mac...

but i did see is on google. weird.

"The most likely scenario is that you installed Ads by LaSuperba yourself believing you were installing something else entirely. It’s worth remembering that viruses are almost exclusively executable files (files ending with .exe). Executable files can modify things on your computer as they see fit as long as you give them permission to do so – by starting them."

LOOK HERE FOR REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS:

having owned a computer SINCE 1974 (Altair 8800) I have long out grown spending my life trying to overcome Bill Gate's inherently defective product that allows to you RUN CODE ON YOUR COMPUTER WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE.

Sorry to say you will always have this problem until you clean all this shit off you computer and then spend the rest of your weekends trying to figure what the next problem is. FOR ALL ETERNITY.

sorry if this is heavy handed.

wow that was a little rough. sorry.

after get you get this sorted out, try creating a administration account and then a account for you with very limited privileges. this might stop you from being able to download, install or execute programs without your knowledge. good luck.

lt me know how it goes.

I use this program to get rid of adware and do a general system clean up. The smilie face will let you know when to run it by displaying a frown.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Adware is a scourge that affects ALL browsers, those that say otherwise have been spoon fed too much iMarketing.

This should clean it up for you: https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdown ... dwcleaner/

Buksida. . .that dwcleaner seems to have done the trick! Fast, simple to use and things so far seem clean and adware free. It took out loads of stuff that I wondered about. I dont download programs from the internet very often so I really dont know how these adware programs happened.

"Ads by lasuperba" was MOST insidious on this HHAD website. Slowed it down to a crawl, stuff wouldnt open etc etc. Even as I was uninstalling the Ioshttp://www.iobit.com/en/advancedsystemcarefree.php . . .which took ages to download and didnt do much at all these ads were popping up even on the Ios adware removal site itself!

And after another check just now. . .LASUPERBA IS BACK. Damn. Back to square one I guess. Any further suggestions?

Looks like your browser has been hijacked then, the ads will appear over any website they can, the site is not at fault - the compromised browser is.

Run a scan with this and post the results, we'll let you know what to get rid of: http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/

This site is back to being incredibly slow now so bear with me. Even typing words I have to wait several seconds for them to appear. Speed on other sites seems unaffected.

Just sent report as a PM.

The Belt and Braces that I run on a weekly basis are Malwarebytes and SpyBot Search and Destroy 1.6 version. Both free and excellent programmes.

dwcleaner is a monthly job and also excellent software

You need to be logged in as Administrator. Try uninstalling it in safe mode. Have you tried resetting the browser to its default settings?

Or run msconfig and disable anything nasty running on startup. Regedit will also show you what is running, but you need to know what you're doing in there.

Failing that, if the infection is deep, you may need to drop the hard drive into another computer to clean it ... or the "big F" is the final option.
