skype

Post by dtaai-maai »

I have Skype on my desktop pc, with a webcam and headphones. That works fine, but it means only the user at my end can hear and speak. If I don't plug the phones in, I can hear the caller but not speak. Can I buy an open mike to get round this?

EDIT: Have answered my own question with Google: the answer is (unsurprisingly) yes.

New question. Any recommendations about what and where to buy locally?

Reformatting my 'C' drive

Post by Terry »

OK - I've done this before - successfully - but being an olde pharte I've forgotten the procedure and I'm sure I got the solution on here before - but can't find it.

So - I'm running Windows 7 ultimate.
I've got 4.49GB of 70.06GB free space left and the bloody thing is glaring RED at me............
I have no doubt that this is because it is full of old versions and back up shite that I don't need

I have plenty of space on an external drive to store my program files whilst carrying out the reformatting.

So - could some wiser sage than me please give me a step by step morons guide to the whole procedure - or alternatively provide me with a link to a tried and trusted method. I don't want to erase all my programs.

Thank you................

ave you tried right-clicking on the drive, choosing 'properties' and using the 'Disk Cleanup' button, first? You can probably save a load of space there. Then you can uninstall some programs you no longer use.

There's really no need to reformat just to save space on your hard drive.

Depending on your actual setup, a proper reformat of the c-drive will erase everything including Windows it self and then you have to reinstall Windows from the begining. What I have done on my Pc's it to have all software on my c-drive and all related data on my d-drive. But in order to advise you I really need to have an idea of your current setup.

Use Windirstat to analyze the disk and tell you what files are taking up the space. If they are non system or program files you can move them off the C drive.

OK chaps - tried all of the above with limited success and then found this.......https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

Absolutely brilliant - shifted 7.5GB of crap straight away

Will still think of a reformat when I get back to HH and get a hold of my discs.

Anyway - thanks again

Google Earth

A recent problem I've experienced is that I get an error message when loading GE saying 'server not found'. When I hook up using my VPN there is no problem at all. Any ideas please?

Just a quick question re: software (which I may have asked previously but cannot find/remember  )....

Does anyone know of any half decent software (preferably free) that could be used to create a map such as that shown here http://www.huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin-map.htm

Ta in advance..
