I didn't know, so I didn't comment. However, the team that won the cup were BEC-Tero FC Sassana, a Premier League side. The team in Hua Hin's group are BCC Tero. Again, only in Thailand :?

Thanks for sorting that out, Big Boy. I take it they actually beat Buriram then. I have no knowledge of the regional leagues in England. I did know however that in Scotland they have a bizarre system in place that has left me speechless. In the Premier League they play each other 3 times and then half way through the season the league is split in two with the top half playing for the title and the rest playing to stay in the league. There is also a play-off system in the other divisions but it doesn`t affect the team that actually wins the league but it involves the 2nd place team playing the 2nd bottom team in the higher division for the second promotion spot. The big question has to be how can Hua Hin get to the 1st Division in this current system. It looks impossible to me!!

No problems. 9 games to play, with the next 2 at home. 2 wins now will make all the difference.

I know it was only a friendly but lessons have got to be learned from these types of games. The idea is to build teamwork and confidence so losing is not helping much. We need to start creating chances and scoring goals otherwise it is going to be a long, fruitless and painful Champions League campaign. After losing the first game we already have a -4 goal difference and it is going to be an uphill struggle to resurrect this campaign. I have seen teams losing matches and titles on goal difference on several occasions and it was not a pretty sight and could cause lasting damage to their confidence. We have to get these friendly games right to create a Plan B and C and even a D to adapt to different circumstances and at the same time give all our strikers a chance to show their worth to the squad and not rely on Kissana and Anucha, who are clearly not scoring enough goals. Only saying!!

I agree that it wasn't the ideal start, but I saw Hua Hin hammered at Singburi, a month before we won the league with the league's best goal difference by far. So maybe they did something right.

Yesterday's friendly was against Premier League opposition. If Plymouth Argyle were playing Chelsea, not many (other than me :D ) would expect Plymouth Argyle to win.

I think we should withhold too much judgement until after next week's Prachinburi match.

First and foremost we have to win our home games and then hope to hold our own when playing away. Our home form is pretty good but we have to win these and win them well. The couple of recent away games I attended we very mixed. We should have won at Petchaburi when we were 2-0 up and nearly lost it and we were taken to the cleaners at Prachuap, who I thought were very clinical when presented with the chances but were not that much better than us. We had a rude awakening that we have to learn from. I have said before, the Coach does not fill me with a great deal of confidence and the "big players" let us down when we most needed them that day. What do we do when our better players have an "off day". Instead of making substitutions he seems to move them to other areas of the pitch where they continue to struggle. If he doesn`t trust his substitutes what are they doing there and if they do come on for the last 5 minutes and then don`t play again for 5 weeks what is that telling them? I know I sound defeatist but the reality is we have to "up our game" and only time will tell if we are up to it!! The Owners, who have a master plan for us to be in Division 1 within 2 years, are likely to be biting their nails over the next few months!!

Where is this venue located? I tried Google Maps, but they know nothing about Hua Hin Fort Thanarat.

Thanks!

If travelling to Pranburi from Hua Hin, make sure you are in the right hand lane as you approach the first set of traffic lights. At the traffic lights you will need to turn right into Fort Thanarat Army Base (One person in your vehicle sometimes has to give up their ID at the second security check point. This is usually Mrs BB's ID card, but if she wasn't with us, one of us would have to give up our passport. To some, this might sound intrusive, but I have travelled to many military bases of different nations, and Thailand is by far the most relaxed I know. ID is collected on the way out).

Once inside the army base, you drive on a fairly straight road for about 5Km until you see the football ground on your right. There is always plenty of free parking.

The club that keeps on giving, is giving just a little bit more for Saturday's game. Free transport to and from the match will be departing Hua Hin Temple at 15:00hrs. If you want a free ride to Fort Thanarat and back, just phone one of the numbers on the poster below.

Vana Nava Hua Hin City 3 - 0 Prachinburi Utd

Hua Hin kicked off their home Champions League programme, playing in front of one of the smallest crowds I've seen at Fort Thanarat this season. 2 key players, Anucha and Kanchit were missing, plus Theerawat and Surapon were also relegated to the subs bench. So a different looking line up.

Within the first 5 minutes, it was quite clear to me that despite having won their own league, Prachinburi were a lower standard than Hua Hin. The game was all Hua Hin, and I only remember Shota's goal being threatened twice.

Hua Hin went ahead with a goal from Stephens after about 30 minutes. [Edit - now know name] Nutthapong added a second early in the second half, and the scoring was completed by Kissana a few minutes later. Hua Hin could easily have scored 6 more, with the woodwork saving Prachinburi 3 times, and missed a few absolute sitters.

Hua Hin continued playing the same way that saw them thrashed at Prachuab in the previous game. Too much faffing about in their own half, which almost gifted the opposition a goal. A very slow build up didn't do a lot to enhance the entertainment either. It was good to see them adapt to life without Anucha. While I appreciate Anucha's skill, it forced Hua Hin to plat differently, which was refreshing at times.

So, Hua Hin have opened their campaign by playing the other 2 champions in their group, and gaining 3 points from 6. The other 3 teams in the group are runners up, so this should see us positioned nicely. I think Prachuab, who won 2-1 today, are a very good team, and will be successful, but I still think Hua Hin are back in the mix and will be challenging hard for the second promotion spot.

We are home again next week on 2 Nov 14 playing Udon Thani. KO 16:00hrs at Fort Thanarat.

Somebody needs to remember to take 10 Baht for the electric meter next week. The last 15 minutes of today's game would have benefited from floodlights.
