Parking...what do you do ?

Post by James77Edwards »

:D one thing hit me a few years ago here...

Everytime I go to the Market Village or Similar...

When I park I do what I did in the UK....Drive in the space...
Im sure most people in the UK drive into a space ( forwards )

But here when your looking for a space 99 per cent have reversed in...
The few that have drove in a space I always assume are expats hahaha

Just an observation....anyone else notice this or anything else ???

Dues the highway code still say that a driver should be in control of his/her vehicle at all times? So are drivers who use a hands free parking system driving illegally?

^ Many drivers who use a hands on parking system are driving illegally!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

As I understand it, the system controls the steering but the driver controls the movement of the car by using the brake pedal.

Pink, women-only parking spots in China that are larger than normal spaces. I wonder if that would work here, but I have to say my wife is a excellent parker, very rarely needs more than one attempt.

There are several Tesco and BigC supermarkets in Bangkok that have designated "Lady Parking" bays. I believe they are the same size as the "Disabled" bays, and are probably treated with the same distain by most Thais. :guns:

Apologies for being a little off topic, but this thread reminded me of a senior manager (female, I'm afraid to say) of a huge UK company I worked for. She was always the first to arrive in her big smart company car at the vast car park each day and I once commented to her that she was an early bird. She quietly confessed that she only got there at the crack of dawn because she didn't know how to reverse (??!), so she made sure she could get a space that she could drive straight in and out of. I'm still horrified when I think about her - she'd been let loose on the roads for over fifteen years at that point, yet she maintained that since passing her test she had never once put a car in reverse, and didn't intend to.
