Parking fines in Hua Hin
Listen up you bunch of ex-pat misfits!
You've all read in the news about BKK police clamping 2.500 vehicles in a single day..
Well..My wife's just told me the police during yesterday ticketed 2 Farang for parking on the 'wrong side' of the road here in H.H.(odd & even numbered days).
BUT..listen-up..they were each fined 500B! SO..think twice before pulling up outside a shop etc..the
MiB may be on the prowl...?
(Wifey did not state if the offenders were with car or M/cycle..?)

Re: Parking fines in H.H.
It had to be a car. I thought motorcycles were exempt from all and any rules or regulations

Which side of the road is legal on odd/even days?

Re: Parking fines in H.H.
a friend of mine was fined 300 for parking on the wrong side of the road for the day, and another 300 baht for facing the opposite way to the flow of traffic

Not trying to be funny, but read the road signs - they're written in plain English.Bristolian wrote:Which side of the road is legal on odd/even days?

Re: Parking fines in H.H.
There have been parking fines in HH for as long as I can remember, the first time I got one would be at least 20 years ago and that was for being parked facing the wrong way. Also on occasions they have been known to chain and padlock offending motorbikes.

Not being funny, but a I asked a sensible question for someone who lives in BKK and not in Hua Hin, I can live with a sarcastic answer. Never mind, I'll check for myself next time in town. Edited to correct a spelling mistake.

I wish they would enforce traffic regulations as hard (or harder) as they enforce parking regulations.

Re: Parking fines in H.H.
Seems like they are trying to take a leaf out the "get rich quick" parking laws as in the UK
It is getting really impossible here, everything is on camera in most cities. London is impossible. Mr S got fined £100 last week in London for a very minor offence. spoke to my postman and he got fined the same for stopping to let someone out at St Pancras Station on a taxi rack in the middle of the night with no taxis on it. All traffic lights have a camera, so if you enter the cycle green box before the lights change...bang! another fine!
Anyway, back to HH.....there are so many Thai motorist who drive the wrong way on a main road, especially with the mobile kitchens. Bet your life the Thai motorists are not targeted so heavily as Farang motorist.
Can you object to the court if you get a fine and think it is unjust?

Re: Parking fines in H.H.
I don't think they go out of their way to target Farang, how would they know who is the owner of a unattended illegally parked vehicle, there is nothing to indicate whether its a Thai or Farang owner.
My wife has been fined more than me in HH, I've had parking fines in HH, Ratchaburi and Bangkok

If you are right, then always fight it. The fine will be annulled. Of course if you are in the wrong, then pay up and don't do it again.
Re: Parking fines in H.H.
I can assure you, there was no sarcasm intended. I've lived in Hua Hin for a couple of years, and still when I park in Hua Hin I get out of my to check for parking restrictions. If the sign indicates odd/even days, I check the date - it's no good looking to see which side vehicles are actually parked.Bristolian wrote:Not being funny, but a I asked a sensible question for someone who lives in BKK and not in Hua Hin, I can live with a sarcastic answer. I realised my answer would sound sarcastic, which is why I started it, "Not being funny."
By the way, I think your concerns about Bankokians is unfounded. I think they are exempt of any rules or regulations alongside the motorcycles.

Actually I have no concerns whatsoever regarding Bankokians and totally agree that they are exempt from rules and regulations. If you can't beat them join them...and hence the reason I now drive a Fortuner UAV (Urban Assault Vehicle)

Re: Parking fines in H.H.
Hi All
I was fined for being half on red and white kerb markings. My fault for not checking properly so my fine.

I want one of those white passenger vans with darkened windows, then instead of worrying about which side of the road to park or what day it is, you can simply abandon it in the middle of the road with the hazard lights on!Actually I have no concerns whatsoever regarding Bankokians and totally agree that they are exempt from rules and regulations.
