Re: Hua Hin City FC
I have just watched the video of last weeks game and the standard appears to be very high - along with the ambition of the club. A couple of the goals were quite outstanding. I am hoping to become a regular attender starting this weekend. I have heard that the club are hoping to move to Hua Hin from Pranburi. Can anyone update me on this situation and I am hoping to get a couple of football shirts and was wondering if there will be someone there selling them on Sunday?

Re: Hua Hin City FC
Hi Davy,
The team can play some pretty football, but in the extreme heat, it can get a little slow at times. I'm a Plymouth Argyle supporter, so I'm easily pleased though
The crowds are quite small, but they make a lot of noise, and I often liken it to a carnival atmosphere. I think it's probably the best valued day out in the area.
Regarding the move, that was planned for April. However, being Thailand, planning by time just doesn't happen. I have not yet been able to identify a football stadium being built anywhere in the area (Meant to be Khao Takiab). The current stadium is fine, and more than adequate for their needs. Pranburi isn't far.
Yes, they do sell shirts at the ground, but they are often limited with the sizes that are available. If you are Thai size, you will probably be lucky. If you are Farang size or outsize, then there is a shop on the road to Hin Lek Fire (after Soi 70) that has shirts up to XXL - same price as at the ground, 550 Baht.

Re: Hua Hin City FC
Thanks for all the info, Moderator. I find it difficult enough walking in this heat never mind chasing a football for 90 minutes. I have been out to the ground in Pranburi already to get my bearings and the stadium looks just right for their needs at the moment. It has been a while since I watched a game as it was getting ridiculously expensive even to see my beloved Heart of Midlothian and a trip down to Old Trafford when my mates remembered to get an extra ticket for me was a luxury I just could not afford. The introduction of satellite tv saw me becoming an armchair supporter and a couch potato. Now is the time to get out and get back in the groove!!!

Re: Hua Hin City FC
Well, for your 50 Baht, you'll definitely get a seat at a league football match and entry into the half time raffle (at least 10 prizes). There's a 50/50 chance we'll be fed pork and sticky rice. They may throw gizzits into the crowd - I had shirts for all of my family last season. It is incredible value.
You can even buy beer at decent prices to drink while watching the match.

I've managed to get an Oh Gor Blimey sized shirt, but I think it will be to hot to wear it just yet.
The number of Farangs at home matches are starting to increase substantially, although I think the number of Thais is decreasing - quite surprising with a successful team.

Re: Hua Hin City FC
3-1 win today but it should have been 6 or 7. Think we need to buy the number 7 a new pair of boots though!! Is that top of the league then!! Ya beauty!! Don`t know where you got your Oh God Blimey sized top because there was none there today for sale. The lady offered me an XXL but it was the same as a small boy size in the UK. I politely declined it!!

TOP OF THE LEAGUE
Unfortunately not the best game I've seen, in fact I don't think the strike partnership of Anucha and Kissana turned up this afternoon.
Anucha had the worst game I've ever seen him have, and he only started playing like his usual self in the last 20 minutes. His little touches are usually inch perfect, but today, his passes were all over the place. Despite having such a bad game, he could easily have scored a couple in the last 20 minutes if his team mates had considered passing the ball to him.
Kissana - I don't know what was wrong with him today, but he couldn't have hit a barn door from 2 yards. In fact he actually missed a couple from half that distance. He needs to learn that there are 10 other players on the field as well.
Hua Hin played strange tactics in the first half. They defended (well), and tried to catch the opposition with a counter attack. Strange tactics for a team at the top of the league to be playing at home. I can only assume it was conserve energy in the first half whilst allowing the opposition to tire themselves out.
It was thank Buddha for our resident brick outhouse, and my man of the match, Lampty who scored the opening goal when he had no right being in the opposition's half.
BTU equalised immediately after half time. I don't think the Hua Hin had woken up from their half time kip.
A brace of penalties for Stephens secured a victory and top spot in the league for Hua Hin.
The referee had one of the worst performances that I've seen. There was a guy mooching around in an orange shirt, who I assume was a league official, so I hope he'd have plenty to say about the ref. On the not so good side this afternoon, there was a clown with STAFF on his back (not sure if he was Hua Hin City Staff), who ran to the edge of the pitch waving a huge flag 3 times that I saw. The guy in the orange shirt wrote something in his little black book the first 2 occasions, but actually sent a MP over to deal with it the third time. My worry is that the guy in the orange shirt was there because of the attack on the referee several matches ago. I just hope this idiot's actions doesn't result in a points deduction.
The atmosphere was different today as well. I don't know if the noisy part of the crowd had a falling out, but they had split (including drums) into 2 distinct areas of the ground. Of course, these guys are official cheerleaders, so maybe they were simply trying to motivate more of the crowd. IMHO it didn't work. The match lost its carnival atmosphere, and it was more like being at a normal football match. It took some of the fun out of it for me.
Anyway, in case you've forgotten,
