Huge increases in applicants applying for a licence before the end of this month.

Will the new rules make a difference? Probably not but it's a step in the right direction.

Doing a test on public roads by a qualified experienced examiner (are there any?!) would be better.

Forgive my cynicism but things are unlikely to improve until those who have never taken a test are removed from the road. No further comment needed as it has all been said many times before.

I thought the test was OK for an experienced driver with a licence from their own country. Academic side is way more than the UK. Practical side does not take you on public roads but there again how did you get to the test centre? Going to be some white knuckled examiners out there soon methinks.
