Though the majority of us knew that Moyes was never going to do well from the minute he was appointed, we just didn't know just how spectacularly he was going to fail.

I big thing for me with him, and one that has been covered in the press a lot, was his 'small club mentality'. After a real poor showing, compared to a normal showing (in years past) from one of the biggest teams in the world, he would throw all these soundbites into the interview after...

"I thought we played well"

"The lads' effort was good"

"We had possession for large parts of the game"

"We didn't deserve to lose by the amount in the scoreline"

"A few simple errors cost us"
"

... as if it was an okay result.

Saying this, it really all has to come down to their under-performing players as to why they were that bad this year. A group of pampered divas being paid a fortune. Out on the town celebrating after a Champions League exit etc...

There's talk that Welbeck is on 'is way out and that Spurs are interested!... *ahem* - no thanks. IMO there's only one player worth taking from United (for the development of the club - not 29-30 year olds) which is Mata. No-one else there really.

It's a sad day for many football fans anyway with David Moyes passing...

At Everton Moyes developed a hard working Team ethic from a bunch of journeymen but decent Quality Players. They worked hard for each other, proved difficult to beat and score against, however, didn't score a lot of Goals and not spactacular to watch.

No doubt man u thought with better Quality Players and more Money at his disposal that Moyes would step up and deliver - unfortunately he has turned utd into last seasons Everton. (This season remarkably Everton have stepped up and will finish above utd).

At one Level you can feel sorry for Moyes - its a Job offer you can't turn down but at this Level he has been found out. His Transfer activity was too little and of questionable Quality - 27 M for Fellaini is a joke and he was never of the Quality to be a utd player. Mata is a Quality Player but why buy another no. 10 when they have two already - Rooney and Kagawa ? Team selection and tactical choices have been poor throughout.

Interesting also that his Mentor and selector (Sir Alex) seems to have avoided some justifiable criticism.

Having got it wrong once they really do Need to get the right Manager now - Ancelotti would be best choice imo - but let's see who Sir Alex nominates next??
Lets hope he doesn't choose Roy Keane who would be a complete disaster..........

Incidentally as a City fan I was very disappointed to see Moyes leave - would have been another 6 points next season!

The fans did turn on SAF a bit after the 3-0 home defeat by City.Difficult to know who they will choose as Moyes successor.
Klopp,Ancellotti and Guardiola have all distanced themselves from the job.
Personally I'd like to see Carlos Queiroz brought back as the no.2 as United played some great football during his time at Old Trafford.....maybe in partnership with someone like Laurent Blanc, another ex United man.
But the smart money appears to be on Van Gaal.
Moyes would make a decent enough manager for someone like West Brom,Norwich or Swansea......a team that sees a top half finish as a success.....thats his level.
We're all on our uppers,we're all going skint,

Of course, it remains to be seen how many of these top names will actually WANT the job, unless they are currently sitting around twiddling their thumbs. I doubt it will be any easier next season, and by sacking Moyes after 10 months, Man U appear to have set the standard - instant success, please...

The new manager will also have to be willing to work with/under SAF, if his influence is as big as reports suggest I can't imagine many of the higher profile managers reported would be keen.

What is the most common form of transport for Premier League teams going to matches? Plane, bus, train, personal vehicle? I have no idea and ask because I wonder if the rich teams fly in style on chartered champagne flights, and the lower are on ???.

Even the Green Army fly when appropriate. However, normal distance travel is by coach (bus).

You have to remember, pete, that this is not the US - distances here are relatively short. Even for most longer distances, the door to door time wouldn't be that much quicker by air.

Southampton travelling to Newcastle - by coach with a hotel Friday night? That would be my guess for most 3 pm kick-offs with a journey of more than a couple of hours.

Liverpools title aspirations take a severe blow after losing 2-0 to Chelsea. As I type, City are 1-0 up against Palace and looking as though they could still pip LFC and CFC to the title.

Hard to know what to make of Liverpool today?

The expectation was immense and just about everyone - the fans, sports sections of the media - even the news sections of the media - saw the game as a means to an end to see the scouser's crowned as Champions, as if it was some sort of inevitable right.

Sorry about that.

That's not to say they won't still go on to win it, but now they are reliant on City slipping up. I agree with Mourinho that Chelsea are out of it, but today was a game to enjoy and a bit of payback for some dodgy results up there over the years. We probably could have scored 2/3 more.
