Re: Samba Restaurant @Venezia Mall
Good review! I've been to a few Brazilian restaurants here in the states and the wait between meats vary considerably! I remember one where the meal took almost 3 hours.

Not been to that restaurant although have been to Venetzia and eaten at Porto Venetzia which I loved. I will try and give the Brazilian a try when next there. Thanks for info
Re: Samba Restaurant @Venezia Mall
Thanks for the review. I will probably try them out during my stay in March.
I have eaten at such Brazilian restaurants before, the best one was at Porcao in Rio de Janeiro back in 2009, and there the different meats arrived within a few minutes of each other. And they also had a very impressive buffet with all kinds of salad fixings and sushi and such.

Went here last night, and for the price I thought it was fairly reasonable. Party of two, had the silver platter of 12 meats, a couple of bottles of water, 1200 baht tab.
The chicken drumsticks and wings are quite good, fall off the bone, perfectly cooked, nice and tender. The pork was also good. The rest was average. The beef cuts are much lower quality cuts of meat, only one I wouldn't eat. Definitely don't go for the beef.
Service was above what is usually given at many restaurants. A pleasant surprise.
I had only two real complaints:
1. No Coke. Not even Pepsi. Only Est. And I hate Est more than Pepsi. I don't like to drink alcohol when I eat.
2. No steak knives. If you are going to serve some lower quality cuts of meat, you are going to need something a little sharper than a butter knife.
I would still go back, but they would hasten my return to address those two things.

Much, much too far out of town
Re: Samba Restaurant @Venezia Mall
Surely that depends entirely on which end of town you live and what transport you have available. I live in soi 6 and have a car, 10 minutes away, not far at all.

Tried this place yesterday evening and can certainly recommend it to others.
Ensure you starve yourself for a few days before you go because they're certainly not shy with quantity.
Has anyone gone for the Gold or Platinum meals and successfully finished it??

There are restaurants where its about food and others where its about ambiance and style. (Don't sell the steak, sell the sizzle) generally males prefer the former and females the latter.
Re: Samba Restaurant @Venezia Mall
I went for the Platinum and the beef was amazing quality... They easily brought what I wanted in ways of cuts and when I wanted it... ate too much but I feel I got my money's worth for sure, will be back there regularly for sure... I Love good beef!!!! I was with my wife and she doesn't eat meat.. They let her get food elsewhere and join me and she had salad from them.. Got to meet the owners and had a great chat with them, nice man from Spain and his Thai wife....Ginjaninja wrote:Tried this place yesterday evening and can certainly recommend it to others.

Check this out:
http://www.marius.com.br/2012/tour_photobolha2/
Restaurant Marius on Avenida Altantico in Rio is a typical Brazilian Chacuteria (BBQ) where the food is served by waiters cutting it off large sticks with different kinds of meat. As mentioned elsewhere a large buffet goes with it ay an "all - you - can eat"- price.
If the Samba Restaurant in Venezia MAll is something remotely like it, it's worth trying.
I love it.
ADDED:
I see with hindsight it would have been wise t oread the whole thread before posting, a little bit like reading hte instruction before assembling, it looks like the place is well appreciated by most.

Had dinner there last night. The food was OK, I did get some "flashbacks" to Rio de Janeiro. But I did not see any buffet, they served the various salad ingredients at the table. They did serve the meat on long spits that they carved from though.
But it was an expensive place, a glass of pineapple juice cost 100 baht + service charge and VAT! And since the rest of the shopping mall was mainly overpriced clothes that I have no interest in, I will not be going back.
Better to get your own bbq going...

large and varied buffet is certainly an integral part of a Brazilian BBQ - I have been wondering how they would work up a Brazilean style one, sounds like they don't
