Retirement Visa - Letter From Thai Bank Confirming Funds

Post by JimmyGreaves »

Can anyone confirm HH immigrations rules on the allowed date of this letter from your bank?

I have read that it must be on the same day that you apply for the extension and have also read it can be dated within 7 days prior.

My letter from SCB was dated 26 February and accepted without question on the 3 March this year.

A week should be the max.... but there shouldn't be any transactions in or out of the said bank a/c ... that varies from the bank letter

How would they know that if you don't update the book or is that what your saying update the book on the same day as the letter?

Do I remember correctly you need to take the book and also photo copies of the pages that confirm the correct amount has been standing 3 months?

I have experienced all of them. One time they requested the date for the letter and in the passbook to be the same date as the day I went for renewal. Another time they accepted the letter with date 2 days prior to the day I went for renewal. The last two times I have renewed my visa, I have done the renewal on the same day I got the letter and updated the passbook. I have found that if I do it this way they will never question the supplied documents for my funds I keep in my thai bank account.

Yes, the date for the letter and the last date in the passbook is one thing. Secondly as you mention, the amount of 400K for marriage visa and 800K for retirement must show not less than 3 months prior to renewal. Though I have been lucky once. I had the required amount only for 1 month. I forgot to transfer from my home country. Luckily I met a nice person at the Immigration on that occasion.

No greasing was necessary. Just my nice smile and apologetic approach :-D

In my 4 years in Hua Hin never had a problem with the Notary from the US Embassy stating the monthly earnings that met the requirements. I didn't realize how lucky I was until I moved down south and in state of Nakhon Si Thammarat. Here you can have the Embassy Notary but you must also have a bank account AND do a transaction on that day with a copy of the passbook to prove you have an account with a balance. If you don't have a bank account your SOL and will be turned away. Oh, but more too, need pictures of you and wife outside of house, inside house and in back of house too. All makes a lot of sense to nobody.

The office may be small and not busy but the guy running it is on his own trip. Needless to say I do my 90 day in Surat Thani and in and out in 5 minutes.

One time I went to bank, got letter. On the way out withdrew money and foolishly updated book. So book showed 5000b less than letter. Rejected, had to go back toMV and get another letter.
