Indian restaurants in Hua Hin

Are there any good indian restaurants in HH?
I went to one - I think it was near the beginning of Poonsuk - last january and the food was totally uninteresting.

After reading all the good reports on this restaurant I was looking forward to our visit on New Years Eve. Unfortunately this first visit had to be abandoned due to party going on in the tailors sweat shop just opposite - the noise was LOUD - no fault of the restaurant.
We went back the following evening and sadly were very disappointed. Firstly and I cant attribute any blame flying ants were invading the table and us,. No burners were available though.
Very impressed by the choice on the menu but when we came to order the waitress seemed to have a list of about 8/9 items and your choice had to be on the list. We settled for me a chicken vindaloo and wife a Murgh Masalla chicken, basmati rice and nan.
The dishes were on the table within 2/3 minutes (I kid you not) . I was given a vindaloo and my wife a Korma. When she said she had ordered a masala the korma was removed and again within 2 minutes the masala arrived. No mix up we were the only people wating to be served. The last thing to arrive about 5/6 mins later was the nan.
My wife said hers tasted ok, and whilst mine tasted ok it was very mild for a vindalloo.
It was obvious thatt a small number of sauces had already been prepared and from the texture of the chicken it had been pre cooked and added to the warmed up sauce. I think we all know that a decent Indian meal takes some time to cook and could not posibly be delivered to the table in such a short time.
New Years day - possibly the chef ahd a night off and had pre prepared a small range of dishes.
The beer was cold and the nan was excellent and in all honesty it was tasty but pre cooked chicken did not work as it was tough (dry) on the outside.
Disappointed but maybe I have been spoilt with some fantaisc curry houses in the likes of Leicester, Glasgow and Manchester.
Hope for their future this was a one off blip.

I went at 5:30 the same day with my family. We enjoyed it so much that we pledged that we would eat there instead of a traditional Christmas Dinner next year.

I was obviously wearing the right after-shave because the flying ants came nowhere near us

The nonsense about the party and the flies to one side, this is a fair comment, and it's a criterion I always have in mind myself.

At this particular restaurant, I remember saying to a friend that I didn't mind waiting, because at least I knew the food wasn't being precooked and run through the microwave - this was obviously the case on this occasion if everything was ready so quickly.

Having said that, I wonder if you'd have reached the same conclusion if they'd waited another 10 minutes before bringing your food.

It's unfair to compare an Indian restaurant in Thailand with one in the UK - and you forgot to mention the price difference.

I wouldn't worry too much about their future; judging by the general tone of comments on this thread, it will take more than one negative experience to harm their trade. I imagine their main problem will be their landlord, once it becomes apparent how well they're doing. (Like the Dutchman a littler further down the road.)

No bad thing to keep them on their toes, though. But not much use unless you mentioned it to them...

Went once, food & service was good..so on the wife's wishes we went again the other night..1 big table eating, 3 small tables waiting with beers..the staff saw us, but never came to us with a menu, or ask us what drinks we'd like...after 15 mins of being blatantly ignored (other customers were starting to talk about us as we sat there like outcasts)..my wife said "F**k this we're going"..carried on down the railway Rd & had a good meal at Lucky. We'd taken the family there last time, were polite & tipped well...looks like it's S&S for our Indian meals now then.

Getting back to more substantial issues like the quality of the food, I was there for lunch yesterday for the first time and am delighted to say that it lived up to the positive reports it has had on here.

Service with a big smile, too, which was nice.

I couldn't agree more. I have been looking for the best Indian Restaurant in Hua Hin and I really think I have found it. Before it was the Taj Mahal but this place has it beat by a mile and then some! Had both the Chicken Tikka and Chicken Korma, going back tomorrow to try the Vindaloo, Garlic Naan is incredible too. So happy they opened up, I really hope they stay open for a long time to come...

If you like your Vindaloo really hot (like my son does), you will need to tell them. There won't be a problem, but they don't readily incinerate their customers

Personally I prefer to taste what I'm eating, so I am happy that they tone down a bit. That doesn't just apply to Vindaloo, but all of their curries.

i went New Years Day and it was fine, although I asked for my meal to be served in the pub across the way so I could watch City v Swansea- no problem it was delivered within 10 minutes- butter chicken at its best

Sorry to upset the regulars but I can only call it as it was on the day for us. But just to clarify any doubts:
Fact: The noise from the Thai party was not meant as a critiicism. Obviously the restaurant could do nothing about it although they did apologise (not necessary)
Fact: It was just before 8pm 1 Jan when we arrived and the place was empty and only one other customer came in
Fact: The flying ants were not imagined they were landing on the table, in or drinks, in my wifes hair etc,. I got up to go to the 7-11 for some spray but the lady stopped me and brought out some spray and switched a fan on. It helped.
Fact: at 8pm 1st Jan it was a limited choice.
Fact: It was pre cooked/microwaved, speed of delivery had to be and texture of chicken!!
Fact: I hate over hot food but the vindaloo was not even madras strength although I had read another review saying the madras was not spicy and that was why I asked for vindaloo. I would never order vindaloo in UK.
Fact:: Whilst disappointing it was tasty and as previously stated the best Nan bread.
Fact: As far as price goes compared to UK it was cheap , but have you ever been to Rushholme (greater manchester) not much mor expensive and it is impossible to compare prices with the UK. I was reviewing overall enjoyment not UK/Thai price comparison. Have you ever been for a Thai meal in UK? expensive Chinese!!
I sincerely wish the restaurant much success, but for what ever reason on the date and time we were there it was not to the standard I would have expected. That said it is the first Indian restaurant I have ventured to in Thailand so maybe in comparison it is very good? Walked past tonight and there were a few tables occupied so they must be getting some thing right.
