I drive the road everyday and its a definite improvement - the 102 U turn eases traffic at the bottom end. We know it aint ever gonna be perfect but these changes are for the better :)

 I'm really missing something here. If I'm driving on the left, and want to get to a U-Turn on the opposite side of the road, I really can't see how you don't cross traffic coming in the opposite direction. OK, I'm only guessing based on what's been said. If I get time later, I'll nip down to have a proper look, and hopefully it will all become clearer.

I'm assuming based on what you're all saying, it's better than I can visualize.

I think you better go drive it! :)

The u-turn has moved literally 30 meters up the road - you just join the traffic coming from khao takiab that little bit further along. I've drawn a little diagram... sorry about my lack of artistic skills :D

BB, The slip road splits into 2 lanes. Each is marked clearly. The one on the left for 'straight on' and the one on the right clearly marked with a 'U-Turn'. Follow the markings and if doing a U-Turn then naturally filter into the traffic from Kao Takiab just as before.

You could see the Amari but couldn't see the road signs. Hmm BB, you worry me!!

Trouble is, the Amari map (typical map in Thailand) indicated the hotel was immediately after the junction. So no, I couldn't see the Amari and was concentrating on locating it. I wasn't looking to drive on any other road, so was totally oblivious to road signs/new road layouts at that point.

Now to talk about the newU turn about500 before the flyover. The road here is much wider than average, so that two lanes of traffic and a lane for turners can be accomodated, should not slow traffic, god forbid.

On the other side of the flyover, from the slip road up past tescos, they are filling in and flattened the large ditch on the left ( as you go out of town). What will happen to the water that floods down 112 next time it rains !

But, I wonder if they are going to try and put in a loop round from the road out of takiab to go south down petchkasem road ? The reason I suggest this is that it looks like they have filled in part of the ditch next to the uturn under the flyover. Obviously, the new road (if that is what it is) would need to cross the railway. Whether that would mean a controlled crossing or is there enough room for a small Chiswick flyover type of construction ? It would certainly help to have another way out of takiab going south without having to do a uturn heading into town.
