I've got a program that I want to get rid of

Post by lomuamart »

I've gone downloading mad since I returned from the UK and have obviously hit the wrong button at some point.
Have ended up downloading Torntv. I've tried to uninstall it but each time Avast tells me that whilst the site is suspicious they've put it in my sandbox so it won't harm my computer. Whilst Avast is telling me that the Torntv program dosn't uninstall.
Has anyone got any suggestions about to rid myself of this? I've run virus and malware scans and there dosn't seem to be an issue - yet. However, I'm sure it's running in the background as my computer is really slow at the moment.

The Great Lomu.
My suggestion is: Uninstall avast ,it is not a good program. Uninstall Torn TV. Update Windows ,but not microsoft products update. Install Microsoft Security Essentials. The best free antivirus program. Install Advanced SystemCare, will clean computer a little, Install SuperAntiSpyware Free Edition, this program picks up trackers. Maybe you now have more than a program that you need to get rid of :D

I'm surprised Buksi hasn't appeared yet saying get rid of Windows altogether? But since doing just that I've realised how right he is.
Now I just need to figure out Outlook Express.... right again Buksi!

I think Buksi is otherwise engaged in the Phillies!!!

I ran a malware scan yesterday and managed to get rid of some stupid Thai toolbar that had installed. The Torntv thingy is still there but I havn't had a real go at that yet as we've had a power outage all day.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Just a little tip when using revo uninstaller (it's a really good program).

Always use the advanced mode, it gets rid of the leftover files on your system.
The instructions are easy enough to follow.

Seriously Lomu I think it was an inadvertant download that started my problems originally. No amount of malware scans etc got rid of it, and it very likely compromised the whole system. I do hope you can sort it without resorting to anything drastic, but in the meantime I would be backing up all important files just in case.

Just had a message flag up this morning saying an add-on had been added called Torntv and asked me to disable by reloading Firefox............................Gone in a flash.

This could be related to the problems I've been having which (touch wood) seem to have gone now

Well that seemed to be easy enough with the uninstaller program.
Torntv has disappeared as has another download site that I wanted to get rid of. All I was looking for the other day was for downloading software and I needlessly opened one up that was not necessary.
Again, thanks for the suggestions and I did use the advanced mode, RZR.
Richard, how did you get that Torntv as well? Just follow the above instructions and you can be rid of it as well if you want.
