New Visa run to Myanmar
New Visa run to Myanmar
Heard a rumour a new border crossing is opening only 90 minutes away from HH into Myanmar. Anyone know the details?

It can only be Dan Singkon, but although it's bound to open eventually, it's probably no more than a rumour at present.
This is the way

Sounds about right, DM.
These rumours have been around for as long as I've been here. It would be great for border runners but I can't see that the Thai government will open an Embassy or consulate for visa purposes there.

I think you're right DM but I had heard that it was to be this December and immigration staff had already been allocated and were to be funded by some businessmen who were likely to profit through development near the border and Hua Hin.
Makes sense. Live outside HH so decide to do a visa run with a stop off in HH and the border. Mini holiday type thing.

Dan Singkhon border crossing
Sorry, not quite sure where to post this.....
There's an article on the front page of the online Bangkok Post today about the development of the Dawai deep-sea port in Burma.
Yingluck is presently in Myanmar discussing this and other matterss.
Clost to the end of the article, it says:
"During the meeting, Thein Sein agreed to a long-standing Thai request to have the Dan Singkhon border passage at Prachuap Khiri Khan developed into a permanent crossing"
Could be interesting for future visa runs.

Yes, this rumour has been running for at least ten years. Spoke to immigration there recently who said it was very unlikely that the crossing would be open to foreigners for a while since there is no way of processing visas and entry on the Burmese side.

Have somebody any news about this?
Re: New Visa run to Myanmar
Nothing concrete but when I was at immigration just before Christmas a couple of the staff said the border was due to open very soon.
However T.I.T.

It will be open to Thais and Burmese but not to foreigners for a while.

And this border is not available for border run too?
Don't understand why they are unable to make a stamp in the passport?

Well my friend. Don't fergit you are a foreigner here. As such u can make no demands, u have no rights, only obligations. According to influential Thais you should be grateful for being allowed your stay at all !!Ivankuznetsov wrote:And this border is not available for border run too?

I heard this last year too. If it opens to foreigners it will a sweet alternative to Poipet for us BKK based bike riders.

Re: New Visa run to Myanmar
Is it actually open for Thais and Burmese now? Like the 3 Pagoda Pass.
