You guys have really got me thinking. I've just done a 845km each way trip to Issan, picking up and dropping off in Bangkok en-route. I started with a full tank. I topped up in the Khon Kaen area (1600 Baht) going, and Saraburi (1780 Baht) on the way home. I had about half a tank when I got back to Hua Hin. There was a fair bit of running around while there running to and from the village. From Bangkok to Somdet and back again, the car was running heavy with 5 bodies, and the rear was very well loaded.
I'll leave it to you clever guys to tell me how that works out.
My problem is that I'm still new here, and with fuel being so cheap, I don't really care what it costs, so haven't sat down to work out specifics.
I would reckon around town, I'm getting less than 20mpg.

Re: Honda Jazz fuel consumption ???
My Jazz, 1,500 cc automatic, which will be 4 years old in July, mainly used for around town, hence just over 30,000 Km on clock, has a button on the oddometer which changes between Total Km/Range/Consumption/Trip1/Trip2.
Around town consumption shows at around 11.5 Km/ltr. On a trip to BK at 100-120 Km/hr this shows as 13.5 Km/ltr.
Found quite a difference in range figures, this is the mode I usually use for around town, and fill tank when down to about 80 Km. 95 gasoline used to give expected range of about 650 Km on a tank. Using 91 gasoline at present which gives me a figure of about 560Km, try to avoid gasohol as range gets even worse.
I assume these figures are averaged historically from fuel intake/time running/distance traveled.
Quite frightening to see how quickly the range figure decreases if you are parked, waiting for someone and running the car and a/c for comfort.

Thanks for all the replies, i guess im not to far out with the mpg,it prop has a negative affect on it due to my wifes poor driving at the moment as she still learning and a lot of stoping and starting going on. I will try 91 gasahol next time to see what the effect is,but i understand that 91 will be no longer be available in the near future.
Thanks again people

Re: Honda Jazz fuel consumption ???
Surprised at Chaspul's kpl readings. That electronic gauge on the dash reads about 10% high (I have the calculations to back this up with actual fuel and kilometers at each fill up the tank). 11 - 13 kpl is still very low from my experience and I have over 100,000 k. on the clock on mine that is almost 4 years old now. Honda advertises 13.4 kpl average for vehicle which I have never seen that low yet on mine. I am sure a lot can be the way I drive so difficult to compare.

Re: Honda Jazz fuel consumption ???
It's all relative - as a driver of a diesel, in LOS diesel is less than half the cost it is in the UK and you can bet your life that increases in the UK will equal or increase more than it does here and I can't see that changing in the short/medium term.dtaai-maai wrote:Cheap?Big Boy wrote:My problem is that I'm still new here, and with fuel being so cheap, I don't really care what it costsYou're obviously still in 'comparison mode', BB. Give it a few more months and you'll be thinking about how much it has gone up, rather than how much cheaper it is than in the UK, USA, Sweden, etc.
Re: Honda Jazz fuel consumption ???
It is cheap; the Thai government subsidises diesel by about five baht a liter. They actually pay BB to go fishing!Cheap?

Re: Honda Jazz fuel consumption ???
I get an average of 10.5km/l according to the computer on my SUV and it seems about right. That's a 3.0 turbo diesel. A full tank might just do Pattaya and back if I was light on the throttle but that's 2200 baht. If BB is right I'm buying a Ford !

Re: Honda Jazz fuel consumption ???
And BB's Issan trip maths look a bit like ...
Total mileage (kilometerage) 2 X 845 = 1690
Initial full tank ~70L @30b/l = 2100b
First top up = 1600b
Second top up = 1780b
Total fuel cost = 5480b
Half a tank left ~1000b
Total fuel burnt = 4480b or about 150 litres
km/l is 1690/150 = 11.2 km/l or 8.8l/100km
Applying that to a Pattaya round trip of conservatively 700km, you'd need 62.5 litres of fuel at 30b/l which is 1875b.

On the subject of fuel economy, VW are aiming at 100km/l with this:

Re: Honda Jazz fuel consumption ???
A much more realistic option - tested on the road and a decent car as well - over 60 mpg in a saloon. Sadly not only £30K here but nearer £65K (2.9M THB).
