Double Glazing

Post by cbranscombe »

Hi,

I am looking to have my doors and windows replaced with upvc double glazing.

I understand that Hua Hin Glass can supply remove and install doors and windows, can anyone comment on their work/price and does anyone have experience of any other local suppliers?

Thanks

Hua Hin Glass do good work from what I have been told, not sure if they supply UPVC. Sun Paradise are reckoned to be high quality suppliers of UPVC product. Double Glazing has been tried but did not give any cost saving with keeping houses cool, better off using single glazing and a heat repelling film.

JW is correct that double glazing really is not a cost effective answer to keeping a property cool. A good quality film on single glazed windows is a more efficient solution. This is particularly true, here in the LOS, where the standard of construction of homes usually means that you have greater loss of cooling though ceilings etc.

However if you are looking for a solution for excessive exterior noise, double glazing acts as a very good noise suppression.

My main concern with aluminium (not looked closely at UPVC frames) windows and doors are the security. Those I have seen in LOS are nowhere near the same security standard as in the UK, although even there most of them can't be classified as burglar proof, whereas here most of them look as though any guy off the street would be able to gain access without too much effort. Is my perception wrong, and/or is their a supplier who offers a reasonable security product without having to resort to the addition of metal bars?
