I just ran Scan Disk on my lap top. After 2 hours it finished, the results were displayed for a fraction of a second (not long enough to read) then it went to reboot.
I have opened Event Viewer but i don't really know what i'm looking at.
I want to know if there is a problem with my hard drive. WTF!!??

Sounds like you are having many problems Robert. Back up your files if you can and buy a decent laptop/desktop is my best advice.
With the information you have provided it's hard to help. Is this scenario happening every time you run the scan disk?
Download Belarc advisor and save your configuration file. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
I think you would be better joining a computer forum for help. This is a Hua Hin sharing site so we will be limited in the help we can provide.
Good luck.

It's okay, i threw all me toys out the pram, went out for a coffee and came back and fixed it.
Just needed a little time away from it all.
I got a warning alert from Firefox this morning saying that Google couldn't be trusted/authenticated. I I can bypass the warning and did so after a bit of thought. If I can't get into Google then I can't use the internet. Did try Explorer but that was pitifully slow - but working.
I've had a few problems with the computer recently. Probably hardware issues with fan or power supply. It keeps switching itself off although it's behaving itself now.
Does anyone know why I got the security alert? The message also suggested that someone could be messing with my computer.
I've had this message before - maybe 6 months ago and I never found any compromise.
I'm loathe to open internet banking just in case. I'll also do a full virus scan soon.
Thanks for any advice.
Thanks for that.
Running scans at present.
The hardware shouldn't have been a problem as I had two new fans and power supply installed three months ago. But I suppose something's wrong with them.
Avast has been giving me this warning about every hour for the last 2 dayss.
Does anyone have any idea what it is or how to get rid of it?
I've already done full scans with Avast, Malwarebytes and Spybot but I got the warning again immediately after re-booting
I would try deleting Avast then downloading and reinstalling.
Obviously ensure that you still have your Malwarebytes and Spybot still up to date before you do it.........
Thanks for all the tips - I think I've fixed it now.
I loooked through the list of installed progams in Control Panel and found some obsucre Firefox toolbar add-ons there which I had not consciously installed. I deleted them all and since then the alerts have stopped, I hope!
We've recently moved house and are using the 3BB wi-fi connection that was already here.
For some reason I can only get some websites to come up on my netbook, others come up with no connection or broken connection etc. To name a few that won't work; Facebook, You Tube, Google, Gmail. All other websites that I use work fine.
However, when we use our mobiles (on the same wi-fi connection) all websites work perfectly.
I've tried a few different things by going into the Control Panel, Internet Settings etc.
Maybe check you don't have any forgotten proxy setting in Internet Explorer/Internet options/Connections/LAN Settings. If these are OK you could try using a different browser, if you haven't already done so.
