The UFO sighting that convinced a Government minister

It is one of the most tantalising ever official accounts of an encounter with a UFO – deemed so credible it even convinced the government minister who investigated it.

Now, for the first time, the sighting of a flying saucer by an RAF fighter pilot and the subsequent high level inquiry it prompted can be revealed.

The sighting occurred in 30 July 1952, when Flight Sergeant Roland Hughes was on a training flight over West Germany in a de Havilland Vampire FB9.

As he was returning to base, he reported being intercepted by a "gleaming silver, metallic disc" which flew alongside his aircraft before speeding off. The mystery object was also detected by RAF radars on the ground, which recorded it travelling at speeds far in excess of any known aircraft.

Hughes reported the sighting to his senior officers who sent him to see Duncan Sandys, the then aviation minister, to brief him personally.

Following the meeting, Sandys went on to tell senior civil servants he was convinced by the airman's story.

The UFO sighting is not only one of the most detailed by a serving member of the armed forces but also shows how seriously such reports were taken by the authorities. British governments have historically downplayed the suggestion that such sightings have been investigated.

Hundreds of sheep 'rain' on Melbourne motorists
(AP)

Falling sheep hit vehicles in the Australian city of Melbourne after a lorry carrying livestock overturned on a flyover.

As the truck carrying 400 sheep hung precariously, its cargo plunged on to the road below.

Several cars were smashed as they were hit by the falling animals or swerved to avoid them.

Many sheep were killed or injured, but Melbourne police said there were no human casualties.

Police say that the lorry was travelling to the town of Geelong when the accident occurred on the flyover above the Princess Freeway.

The cause of the incident is still being determined.

"This is quite an unusual event," Allan Eade, a paramedic, told the Associated Press news agency.

"First of all we looked up and we could see the truck flip on its side and the next minute we were underneath and well, yeah, it rained sheep," passenger Christey Davis also told AP.

UFO Lying On The Bottom Of The Baltic Sea?

Lee Rannals for redOrbit.com

A Swedish expedition team has found an unidentified object at the bottom of the Baltic Sea, leaving some to believe it’s the remnants of an extra-terrestrial ship.

Scientists went off on a deep-water dive to debunk some theories about the underwater object, but were left with more questions than they had answers.

The divers found that the object was raised about 10 to 13 feet above the seabed, and curved in at the sides.

“First we thought this was only stone, but this is something else,” Ocean X team diver Peter Lindberg said in a press release.

The object had an egg shaped hole leading into it from the top, working like an opening. On top of the object, they found strange stone circle formations, which resembled small fireplaces. The stones were covered in something that resembled “soot.”

“During my 20-year diving career, including 6000 dives, I have never seen anything like this. Normally stones don’t burn. I can’t explain what we saw, and I went down there to answer questions, but I came up with even more questions “, Stefan Hogeborn, one of the divers at Ocean X Team, said in the press release.

Farther back from the object, the Ocean X team said that they could see a “runway” or a downhill path that is flattened at the seabed with the object at the end of it.

“As laymen we can only speculate how this is made by nature, but this is the strangest thing I have ever experienced as a professional diver“, continues Peter Lindberg, one of the founder Ocean X Team.

Scientists are currently examining samples from the circle-shaped object, and experts in sonar imaging are processing data from the “ship” to help shed more light on what exactly this underwater object is.

The outline of the ship on pictures resembles the famous Star Wars ship the “Millennium Falcon.”

Lindberg said the odd thing about the discovery is that there is no silt on the rock, which is an ordinary thing to find when lying at the bottom of the sea.

He also told Fox News that the object is “disc-shaped” and “appears to have construction lines and boxes drawn on it.”

Lindberg told the news agency that the Americans and Japanese “are much more excited” about the discovery than the local Swedish people.

Canadian wanted in YouTube 186-mph motorcycle ride surrenders
By Todd Sperry, CNN
July 26, 2012 -- Updated 0123 GMT (0923 HKT)
STORY HIGHLIGHTS

Randy George Scott, 25, turns himself in in Kelowna, British Columbia
Police say the incident took place April 6 on the Trans-Canada Highway
YouTube video shows motorcycle weaving through traffic at hair-raising speed

(CNN) -- Police in British Columbia say a man wanted for allegedly recording himself reaching speeds of at least 186 mph on his motorcycle and posting the video on YouTube has been arrested.

Randy George Scott, 25, walked into the Kelowna, British Columbia, police department Tuesday evening, identified himself, and said there was a warrant for his arrest.

"The man allegedly responsible for the infamous YouTube video "Victoria Highway Run 299km" is in custody," Kelowna police said in a statement.

Kelowna is about six hours from Saanich, the town where the incident took place.

On July 10, charges were filed against Scott after receiving tips from the public identifying him as the motorcycle rider in the video.

The Saanich Police Department on Vancouver Island said the incident took place on April 6 on a busy stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway.

Video of the ride quickly went viral across the Internet, but Scott was nowhere to be found. In the video, a motorcyclist is seen reaching a speed of 299 kilometers per hour (186 mph) weaving between cars, but authorities think his actual speed may have been even faster. The speedometer tops out at 299 kph.

"You can hear him accelerating even when it says 299 kph," Saanich Police Sgt. Dean Jantzen told CNN.

The posted speed limit is 80 kph (50 mph).

Jantzen said motorcyclists traveling at dangerously excessive speeds are not typical in that part of Saanich, which is more urban.

Saanich police said Scott, if convicted of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, could be sentenced up to five years in jail.

Police in Kelowna aren't sure why Scott chose their town as the place to surrender, but said they are working with Saanich police investigators on the case. Since Scott surrendered in the same province where he was wanted, the extradition process is less complex, according to Royal Canadian Mounted Police Constable Kris Clark.

Scott remains in Kelowna police custody and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

:lach: Silly bugger!

A BOYFRIEND almost died when a bizarre birthday surprise for his girlfriend went disastrously wrong.
Hu Seng, from southern China, nearly suffocated to death after mailing himself to his girlfriend’s office in a sealed box – which got lost in the post for three hours.
When the box finally arrived, shocked girlfriend Li Wang unwrapped her enormous present to find Seng passed out – and bystanders had to call paramedics to revive him.

One of the onlookers, a friend of Seng, had been waiting to photograph the surprise and caught the botched birthday stunt on camera.
“I didn’t realise it would take so long,” said Seng. “I tried to make a hole in the cardboard but it was too thick and I didn’t want to spoil the surprise by shouting.”

Live shark falls from the sky at Californian golf course

Golf club employees in southern California came to the rescue when a shark dropped out of the sky and flopped around on the 12th tee.

A course marshal at the San Juan Hills Golf Club found the leopard shark on Monday afternoon and brought it to the clubhouse, according to Melissa McCormack, the operations director at the course.

It had puncture wounds where it appeared a bird had snagged it from the Pacific Ocean, about five miles away.

The marshal put the creature, which was bleeding but still alive, into his golf buggy and sped off back to the clubhouse.

They stuck the two-foot-long shark into fresh water before somebody remembered it came from the sea, so they got some sea salt from the kitchen and mixed it in.

Another employee rushed the shark to the ocean where McCormack says it was very still for a few seconds before twisting around and speeding off.

Nobody was injured when the shark fell from the sky, although some golfers had just left the area.

"We have your typical coyotes, skunks and the occasional mountain lion, but nothing like a shark," Ms McCormack told The Associated Press.

Thought this to be the best place to put the following. Never heard of the guy before. Surprised he's not in a straight jacket tbh yet alone allowed to 'perform' at Wembley stadium to a crowd of *ahem* 5000 (The 'Gathering of Loonies'. Should have rounded them all up there and then while you've got them all in one place :D ). He's certainly got something wrong up there. A fair few bats in the belfry me thinks.

We're all holograms ruled by reptiles (and the Queen's fuelled by children's blood) — claims David Icke

THE nutter has come to Wembley,” David Icke yelled triumphantly from the stage.
It was his way of mocking the many critics who had ridiculed him mercilessly after he first dressed in turquoise and announced himself a “Son of the Godhead” more than 20 years ago.
Looking around at the 5,000 fans who packed Wembley Arena at the weekend for his biggest ever show, I had to wonder whether he was not the only oddball.
They had travelled from all over the world to hear the 60-year-old former BBC sports presenter tell them how they — and the rest of us — are merely holograms living in a virtual reality that has been hacked into by alien beings, who control us with the help of a ruling elite of reptilian humanoids.

I suppose you are too young to remember him GLC, but he was a famous tv sports reporter until he went looney.

Swedish woman charged for sexual activities with skeleton

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/of ... -skeleton/

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - A woman in Sweden has been charged with engaging in sexual activities with a human skeleton and could face jail time for disturbing the peace of the dead, a Swedish prosecutor said.

Police found a full human skeleton, skulls and a box containing other human bones by chance after responding to a call saying a shot had been fired from her flat in the city of Gothenburg.

They also discovered CD-ROMs titled "my necrophilia" and "my first experience", and photographs of the woman engaging in various sexual activities with a skeleton, a court document on the prosecutor's website showed.

It said the woman had handled the bones in a "shameful" and "unethical" manner.

"She is interested in the dead," Prosecutor Kristina Ehrenborg-Staffas told Reuters. "She has pictures of morgues, churches and graveyards."

The 37-year-old unemployed woman has also been accused of selling human bones to an artist in Uppsala in eastern Sweden this past summer.

The woman has said she bought the bones, which were around 50 years old or more and from different parts of the world, over the Internet for historical purposes and says that it is not her in the photographs.

Her trial will take place next week and she faces a maximum two years in prison if found guilty.
