I dont want to upset you - But Thai beer, like all other beers contain an effin lot of water .. Could explain why they are always a brownish colour

Been here 14 years and never have had a municipal water bill of over 100 THB for a month. OK, no pool or other heavy usage of water but there are a good few plants to keep alive and we do try to keep clean!!!
As far as drinking water is concerned, we get the 25 litre containers of filtered water for 10 THB a time. Over the month, maybe 4 of those. Neither of us has come down with cholera, hep A or any other nasty - ever.
So, the other side of the coin is a total water bill of under 150 THB a month for two.

Agree completely with the above. I drink the 10 Baht water and have no problems except it's now 12 Baht from our local man !

We don't drink the tap water but do use it to shower, clean teeth etc. Our bill for water (including a swimming pool) is always less than 100 baht

Cindy, I bet you didn't know that you needed to know so much about drinking and bathing water. The treads in this forum seem to often get wierdly sidetracked.
Anyway, I'm a Cha-am guy so not much to offer on living in Hua Hin. HH seems great, but if you want quieter, more local, less farang, Cha-am is great, but slightly boring (in a good way for me). For a liitle more excitement, Hua Hin is only 15 minute drive away Good Luck!

Well I went that route too when I moved here initially, until I opened up one of those 25 litre bottles and even though I had been a regular customer for months that bottle smelled like the klong and had little nasty bits in it. So I stopped taking chances.

I do however revise/correct the amount it costs to double filter my municipality water here its 700 bht for one of the resin filters that need to be changed monthly, or the water starts to run slow, then 1500 bht monthly for the secondary charcoal filter that I need to change monthly too, or the water runs very slow.

Then 35 baht per bottle from Makro for 80 bottles of brand name water every month or month and a half, so lets say 2200 baht monthly for drinking water at todays exchange rate = 88 quid per month for water sanitation/consumption, a small price to pay for peace of mind.

It only takes one time to get a water borne disease and then kick yourself for trying to save money by compromising hygiene!

The clientele counts many people living here from various nationalities. Some of them running businesses like restaurants, real estate, insurance brokers, ..., others are retired. Come in an evening and you will meet some people who can help you with all your questions.

I'd love to retire to HH even tho we haven't been there yet, best of luck in your retirement plans and don't worry soap and water are over rated, just use plenty of channel no 5, that's what I do.


Maybe that's why I get lots of proposals from lightfooted men!!!
