6 month rental - Sheraton Blue Lagoon or Baan Sandao

Post by jumusman »

Hi everyone. I am trying to make a decision between a 6 month rental at the Sheraton Blue Lagoon and Baan Sandao, both 2 bedrooms. Just wondering if anyone has any rental experience at either condo ? I will be moving this Sat 11th Aug so need to make a decision quickly on this.

Both have their up and downside which is making it a difficult decision. They are both exactly the same price for a 6 month rental, the Blue Lagoon is 140sq meter and 10 minutes from town, Baan Sandao is 80 sq meter but right in the middle of everything across from Market Village. I am trying to decide if those 2 things cancel each other out...!

The one concern I have with renting at Blue Lagoon is I only have a motorbike so getting groceries at Makro (They don't deliver, I already checked) might be difficult unless the Blue Lagoon has a shuttle available. I am sure guests staying at the Sheraton get a free shuttle wherever they want but I don't know if the is extended to the Blue Lagoon apartments. I know discounts at the Sheraton restaurants are and pool usage but I am sure there is a cut off point somewhere..

Internet is a major concern for me but I feel like this would not be a problem ordering it at either place. The Blue Lagoon unit is for sale but the owner has agreed to let me stay the entire 6 months without selling it but of course I cannot be sure about how many potential viewings will occur in a 6 month period, fortunately the Baan Sandao condo is not currently for sale so will not be a problem. I am not a fan of having to get up to show an apartment, I work at night and sleep very late during the day.

If anyone has any experience/tips/comments staying long term in either place it would be helpful and maybe sway my decision a little bit. I really appreciate it! Thanks..

Location is everything, San Dao no question, a motorbike to Sheraton is not a good idea.

Sandao

You can also try Baan Sanploen which is a better complex than Sandao.

We often rent a 2br at Sanploen

Thanks for the info. Just wondering what specifically makes Sanpolen better than Sandao in your opinion ? I have been looking online and most of the higher end apartments in that area look about the same (except for Mykonos and Marakesh which have WAY too many apartments and charge WAY too much money for what you get).

Looks nice from the photos, I was never shown anything at Sanploen so not sure about it. Thanks for the info though.

Yes I agree with the location comment. For sure it does not get any better than San Dao. I just have to weigh 2 things. Is driving 10 minutes worth an extra 60sq ft of room.. it is quite a bit larger.
