Once more - Satellite TV Provider

Post by MajorBloodnok »

Hello,

new in town. Already close to starvation as far as British television is concerned.

Currently forced to watch Thai cable tv, including ONE ITV GRANADA channel.

I have found out about this PLATINUM satellite package which does include BBC World
Service, BBC Entertainment, but apparently not ITV?
Does one of the many sports channels cover international Rugby?
Rugby World Cup?

Do you know a satellite operator which offers a package including ALL the BBC and ITV channels plus Australian and New Zealand channels?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Hi Mike, it's good to see that you've caught up with me at last :D

I'm using Thai Expat TV - costs just 600 Baht a month and it's perfect for UK terrestrial TV.

As you will see, I had a few teething problems, but they've long been overcome, and I wouldn't want to be without it now.

The true visions platimum packaage includes Rugby (Setanta). Rugby World cup was on, English premiership, Southern hemisphere tri-nations, hurling, gaelic football. Your cable tv shows the heineken cup including the final on eurosport 1. Football PL you need true platinum for all games, I hear Astro satelite offer good Rugby and a few premier games plus cricket

Astro Schedule here: http://www.astro.com.my/portal/channels-2

I have the truvision gold package, cheaper than platinum,i have access to all the rugby games, super 15s,internationals as well as rugby league thru setanta ch 107.I looked at platinum, not worth the extra money unless you like the reality tv shows and re runs of old american sitcoms

Hello mates,

many thanks for your kind informative input!

As for Thai Expat TV - is it confined to online pc display or can you receive it on your tv set, too?

Thanks!

Either.

Sometimes, I'll sit outside watching it on my laptop. Other times I connect my laptop to the TV via a HDMI cable (cost 199 Baht I think). They will sell you a receiver box, which eliminates the need for a laptop altogether. However, I opted against that. The best bit is if you follow the link from the link I gave you, they will give you a 2 day free trial. My first trial failed miserably on the second day, so they gave me a further trial. I've not had a problem since.

They are adding new channels as well. This morning (for about 2 minutes) I was watching live baseball on ESPN America :banghead: :banghead: Apart from that, it's great :D

Hi,

yesterday I could not find this thread where I had left it - in the IT section.

The Administrators should make up their mind where this topic belongs.

It started in the : "Ask expats" section where I had initiated it.
Next it had been moved to the IT section, and now it's in the "Entertainment" section!lol

Never mind!Lol

G'day mates,

I withdraw that terrible piece of newspeak: "informative input"!

Rephrase: I thank you for your valuable information!

I have ordered the GOLD satellite package (plus dish, of course) from TRUE VISION
to cover my RUGBY needs.

I have also downloaded the THAI EXPAT TV free two-day trial, and I am delighted.
That will cater for events such as the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo, Trooping the Colour
and Remembrance Day!

Thanks again!

We had it installed last month but the price has slipped my mind as I payed out for a lot of stuff for a new house over a short period. I think it was 3000 bt but if no one else replies, I'll ask my partner over the telephone tomorrow as she dealt with the shop and will remember.
