How to start a business in Thailand?

Post by svenlang »

Do I have to marry a Thai girl and put everything in her name? Or can I own a business in Thailand on my own? Thanks for any input.

I don't want to confuse you - but the answer to both questions is "no".

You certainly don't have to be married, nor do you have to put everything in a Thai person's name.
If you're setting up a business within the legal framework of a limited company/partnership, you cannot own more than 49% of the shares and must have at least 2 other shareholders (Thai individuals or Thai entities in that case). You can, however, hold the sole signing powers (again depending on the type of business).

If you could give more details of the sort/scope of business you're embarking on, it will be much easier to give you the advice you need.
