just a quick heads up for fans of the alien invasion survival drama series FALLING SKIES, which IMHO was good watching....(reviewed a couple of times by different people earlier in the thread)

Series 2 starts on 17th June with a double whammy episodes 1 and 2 evening premiere. Will be out and about on the net for streaming and download from the usual suspects the night after no doubt.

Found this little known gem of a comedy series...Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire....had me laughing out loud anyhoo....Matt Lucas is particularly good as the evil Dongalor.

From IMDB........
Monty Python meets The Princess Bride in this upcoming Comedy Central original series. Follow Kröd and his band of ineffectual freedom fighters as they fight evil and save the world

Took a while to download on Bit Torrent but was worth the wait.

Saw the first episode of The Newsroom. Wasn't up to the same quality as Sorkin's prior works, Sports Night and The West Wing, but it looks promising to see episode 2.

Not so fast there. Most of my college educated GOP friends enjoyed The West Wing because Sorkin's dialogue crackles, the acting was good, the characters sympathetic, and the stories were interesting. The setting was a fantasy in a parallel universe where libs don't break everything they touch. We enjoyed it as a comedy.

This guy says it much better than I can: http://sultanknish.blogspot.com/2012/06 ... s-for.html

The last time Aaron Sorkin had a high-profile political television show, liberals used it to cope with the decline and fall of the Clinton Presidency and the long winter of the Bush Years. The West Wing was a coping mechanism for the death of a liberal dream, and so is The Newsroom. Both are an escape into fantasy to avoid dealing with the harsh reality.

On an episode of Seinfeld, George is stung by an insult but is unable to think of a retort, so he spends days trying to come up with the perfect comeback, until he finally thinks of it and travels around the country to get the chance to deliver it. The Newsroom, set in the past, and jumping in right before the political balance tilted toward the Republicans in the mid-term elections, is the same thing.

I've never watched The West Wing but the same guy did The Social Network, one of my favourite recent films and the dialogue is phenomenal.

We should rename this thread really, as it includes all tv series.

Anyway, imagine you get knocked down by a car and when you come round you're in 1973, wearing flares and wide collars, driving a Cortina and using Party 7s to celebrate... nightmare,.

I've just watched the first couple of episodes of a 2004(?) ITV series called LIFE ON MARS. If you like cop shows, especially the Sweeney, with a bit of humour and some sci-fi/fantasy thrown in, then you should give this a try.

Yes, liking the Newsroom - was a big fan of The West Wing.

I new show I'm watching is Longmire. A small town sheriff based in Wyoming solving a 'weekly' mystery. I think a cut above the normal cop shows. I noticed it's based on a series of mystery books so maybe that's why. Cinematography (right word for TV shows?) is very good and the Wyoming scenery and country theme is a good backdrop.

Just watched Ep1 of Longmire...I agree that it has potential to be very good.
