Just a quick enquiry for shared experience here in respect of FireFox s "new" version 9.01
IMHO its a mess.....seems to this XP user running a 6 year old Inspiron 6000 laptop that it runs lke a clunker, is a wee bit buggy, freezes and stutters, and seems to be (at times) eating up so much CPU runtime that other programmes have a hard time.
For example, if Im downloading a couple of files, watching a flick from an AVI file, a MKV or even a very small FLV is a nightmare of stutters and stops. Open up task manager and sure enough FireFox is chewing up the CPU capacity.
Also, when I type a response to a thread post and hit send, it sometmes sits there frozen for anything up to a couple of minutes....look at the activty montor and its trying to connect to some site called http://www.weatherforecastmap.com or some sodding Google related cack monitoring system?????
Scanned with AVAST and SPYBOT and it aint a virus issue.....
SO....anyone else found that running the new version of FireFox on an older computer is a bt of a strain?
think maybe that its been "optmised" for Windows 7 and more up to date processors.
Of course the pig is now I cant roll the version back to what it was before the update. DIVX Player same same all over again.
Pigs me off because Im a big loyal FireFox fan, and none of the potential issues were flagged on the update page.
