Recommended Day trips or activities?

Hi, we are visiting Hua Hin with family for a few weeks starting on the 25th Mar. There is 7 adults in our group, my wife and I, her Thai parents and brother and my parents.

Im just trying to get some good ideas on things to do while we are there, mostly we will be well occupied with the beach, the pool, the restaurants and bars. A few day trips in between will be nice though.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

For the Thais in your group, the big Luang Por Tuad (spelling?) temple will be very much appreciated. Depending on fitness levels, Pala-U waterfalls might be another day out, and a trip south to Prachuap Kiri Khan is also worthwhile since there are some nice sights and attractions down that way as well.


There are also some activities closer to home............floating market, captive breeding park, wine farm, etc, etc, etc. I'm not sure, but I think the Black Mountain waterpark is open now as well, which some might enjoy. Hua-Hin Fishing Lodge is also said to be a great day out, even if you're not particularly into fishing. You also have Barry's Mermaid Tours, which again, have proved to be a big hit with many visitors.


Alternatively, the lot of you can come around here to my place with a good supply of Chang beer, which I'll look after while you all get stuck in with some gardening What a great way to experience real life in Thailand.


Oh yes, my wife tells me the "scenic sheep farm" in Ratchaburi is quite a nice day out. Why anyone would want to spend about four hours driving and that just to see some sheep is beyond me, considering you can see all the sheep you want with a few clicks of a mouse.....lol. Even worse...the place doesn't even sell lamb or mutton.


I sure other will have plenty of tips, so check this space often.

-Ride a horse on the beach
-Elephant rides
-Take a trip up the mountain that over looks hh. Some nice views up there and you don't have to travel far at all
-Plenty of beaches that are quieter and cleaner than the main beach in town
-Live music in and around town in the evenings
-Go-karts

Thanks for the recommendations, will run these by the others and no doubt we`ll do quite a few of them.
The Mermaid cruises are a definate aswell as Luang Por Tuad and some other good suggestions.

As for the gardening your on your own there Takiap

Surprised no one has yet listed Mareukataiwan Summer Palace of Rama 6 between Cha am and Hua hin. Look it up. Well worth the visit. Gorgeous place to spend the day and a wonderful look at Thai history and culture. ( It is spelled at least a dozen different ways)

Hi If you guys like the beaches, then it's a great possibility to try kitesurfing. Hua Hin kitesurfing is located in soi 83 it's a very nice place for learning and the setup is great. The school area have shower,toilets and is connected to a nice beach restaurant where they offer good food, drinks and sunbeds.

I would definately make the effort to visit the 'Pra Nakorn Kiri – Mueng Petch Fair' at Khao Wang, Petchaburi, 28th March - 6th April. Particularly the older folk, they'll like it for sure. Went there almost by chance first year we were here when parents were over, and it was an excellent afternoon-evening to be honest, and really not my cup of tea usually. There's a slow, leisurely hour's walk up the mountain to the old palace/temple etc, but worth it when up there, spectacular views, sunsets if lucky etc. But there is also a steep cable car if someone can't manage it.

Down around the foot of the mountain and into the town there were more craft, furniture, food & sweet stalls than you could shake a stick at, plus they had contests and stuff running. All designed to celebrate/showcase historical local craftsmanship and traditions etc. Stalls/games for kids. This year is apparently gonna be part dedicated to celebrate the King's 84th year, so that will make it a bit more special.



My parents, sister & family are over during it so will pop up there again. And they have a firework display at close every night (I think), definately a big one on last night. Can imagine it will particularly be a great outing for your Thai inlaws, if you're looking to see the have a good time that is
