Well nobody seems to know if it was a murder. Even so, a death is no joking matter :? Someone died, maybe natural causes, who knows the facts please?

Yes, I think a lot of murders go unreported here unless they're high profile.

What I find shock though is the fact that a government MP can kill someone and yet the police cannot arrest him or her because they have immunity. How daft is that? I honestly never knew about this until I read about it in the papers the other day.

I just thought "if i go on to an online news paper the other side of the gulf i bet there would be a story of a tourist falling off a balcony" and yes there was, an alarming amount of tourist's seem to die in Pattaya from falling off of balconys (or being pushed) and other crimes enough to make your toe's curl.
In respect Hua Hin is safe as many europian resorts if not safer thats why i am very happy visiting here.

Was I making light of the crime or the investigation?

It was a throwaway comment that most regular board members took as was intended. Don't watch Thai news or glance at the papers hey precious.

Who else heard it then? seems no one!

The fact that 3,140 people have read this topic and not one of them has posted anything solid on it would lead me to believe it to be another of Hua Hin's Rumour Mill products!

Yes Buksi, I tend to agree with you. No solid news regarding this at all, and nothing concrete from forum members either.

There is a joke in Pattaya that you should NOT walk close to any condo building as the 'Flying Farangs" may land on you.
The Pattaya ex-pat weeklies publish details of most of the crimes involving foreigners and there are at least one or two FF stories a week.

I was playing darts at the Cat Karaoke (next to Bernies) early evening a couple of weeks ago when the police turned up with a grainy picture from a security camera with, you've guessed it, a girl with long, straight, black hair and the victim. Couldn't really make out her face.

The picture was from a Karaoke bar but probably not one of the ones on the Bazaar as there was a car park out the back.

Apparently it was a drugging where the poor guy died in his room at the Jed Pee Nong hotel at 6 AM the previous day. They reckoned they were on her case and she'd walked past us on the Bazaar while we were playing.

They came back a number of times during the evening but with no update.

That's it I'm afraid. Surprised it didn't make the news but not that surprised after reading all the comments here!

Thanks for the update, but again, we hear that it was "apparently" a drugging. Surely an autopsy would reveal if it was in fact a drugging or not. Also, I've been led to believe that the hotel mentioned is quite respectable, so I would assume they have the girl's details. My only concern is that if there is any sort of pressure on the police to solve this case, some potentially innocent girl could end up being charged for murder.

Hell, talk about a complicated system.

Don't what you lot are all talking about......it was obviously a suicide as there are no facts, and it will be announced shortly after the usual detailed investigation by Thailand's finest.

It isn't really a complicated system at all. In fact it is very simple. Put things down to suicide - no problem. As we know only too well the reliability and expendiency of autopsies in Thailand is dubious to say the least. When you are gone you are gone - an autopsy will certainly confirm death. Anything else is -IMO - considered superfluous by Thai standards.
As already mentioned the number of 'suicides' in Pattaya for example is pretty scary. But it is the 'norm' there. About 1998 there was one such alleged suicide in a Soi adjacent to Soi Yamato. A Thai lady I knew went round the corner to take a look - as they do. The farang had fallen/jumped - whatever - from a high rise condo. Thai lady reports back 'he no Superman.'
And that is how Thai people view things. They simply don't understand that farang want to know how why where when - and they never will.

Are they so wrong really? It is only our Western heads that demand explanations.

You're absolutely right MC. A while I was talking about some or other suspicious death that had occurred, and the Thai I was speaking to said "What difference does it make...he's dead". This was said in a way which clearly showed it was and is their way of thinking.

Like you say, it's only western minds that tend to be obsessed with explanations, reason and logic, and in fact, this is probably why the west has always led the way with exploration and great inventions. I don't mean this in a bad way, but it's true.

Takiab....I suggest you go much further back in history for exploration and great inventions. China led the way in all these...For example Zheng He probably discovered America long long before Columbus.
