As the Beach Bar is popular I'll pop this query here for maximum exposure!
A new biography about His Majesty King Bhumibol was published around the end of last November. It had rave reviews in the BP - priced about 1200 baht - hardback - Asia Books I think.
So I wisely decided to wait until just before flying home before buying a copy. Mistake - all sold out (Asia Books on Sukhumvit had sold 3000 copies.) Another print run is apparently due by February.
But I didn't note the full title, authors or ISBN so can't order it from Waterstones. Does anyone out there have that info pretty please?

The book is called "King Bhumibol Adulyadej: A Life’s Work" and is available through Amazon - unfortunately not until March 2012.
It was sold out Mags within the first few days. We missed it at Asia Books and another place at Central, Pattaya and Bangkok by a day. We've ordered, and on the notify list when it comes in. February is what I'm told. Pete

I will keep an eye out for that as Id like to learn more about his inventiveness....whenever I see one of those water aerator wheels at work I smile and think of him. His cloud seedng invention also fascinates me, as does the Monkey Cheeks irrigaton idea. Thng is ts hard to find any good English language sources on how he came up with the ideas and how they work.
One of my favorite stories I read was when he was stayng in hospital in BKK and had a telescope brought to hs room so he could observe the traffic at grdlocked junctions and then made calls to the relevant department telling them to sort stuff out.
Now thats the sort of King a country needs.
"Science flew men to the moon. Religion flew men into buildings."
Another good read about the King is the one written by one of his protection officers " in the footsteps of the King " It gives a very good overview of the things the King has done for his people and some of his little quirks etc. An all round good read.
I never forget a face but in your case I'll make an exception!
It's back in stock Mags and others. We picked it up yesterday at Central Festival in Pattaya. There is no author but a large editorial team headed by former PM Anand Panyarachun. ISBN is 978-981-4260-56-5. Publisher is http://www.edmbooks.com Pete
EDIT: Price here is 1,235 Baht at Asia Books.

My wife picked up a (English language) copy about a week ago at Asia Books in Market Village and they told her she was lucky as this was the last one and they couldn't get any more. Maybe the 2nd printing is a fast sellout just like the first was.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
