Eagles – Farewell (1) Tour - A Review
Eagles – Farewell (1) Tour - A Review
Not sure if this should be here or in Foo but after a suggestion by someone earlier in the year for a review section, here is my first effort:
Eagles – Farewell (1) Tour, Live at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff, June 25 2006
From the moment these old fellas threw themselves straight into Take It Easy, I knew that I would not be disappointed. The sublime New Kid in Town followed and the show was already becoming almost a religious experience for me as the thousands in the audience, ranging from teenagers to grandparents, chorused each song in unison with Frey, Henley, Walsh & Schmit.
The band jokingly apologised for having to take a break after an hour, in which they played most of their country rock classics, due to their advancing years. However, Frey promised that they would play for a looooong time on their return to the stage and the boys did not disappoint because after the break they really upped the ante and the volume! After a couple of ballads including the beautifully sung Love Will Keep Us Alive and the haunting harmonies of the hymn like Hole in the World, written immediately after an abandoned recording session due to the September 11th attacks in New York, the place was rocking with a mixture of Eagles numbers and some of the boys’ solo material including Henley’s Boys Of Summer and Walsh’s power chords on, amongst others, In The City, Life’s Been Good and Life In The Fast Lane. As Frey urged the crowd; “It’s your party, do whatever you want!â€

The Eagles R the BEST
Wonder if any of you had a chance to see the Eagles LIVE in Bangkok about 2 years ago?
It was definitely the BEST concert ever in a very very long time. Those guys really know what they're doing and everyone was having the time of their lives!!!!
BTW, would any of you be interested if there was a dedication Eagles Band coming to play in Cha-am or Hua-hin???

Great Review

Sounds great, I do think Felder is missed though, you dont seem to agree on that. Having watched the Hell Freezes Over DVD about 100 times I can't understand why he left (got fired).

Re: Great Review
I think there are at least two lawsuits pending, after which, all will be revealed but I think that basically they just didn't get on as one of the lawsuits apparently describes an alleged litany of wrongs inflicted on Felder down the years by Frey & Henley. Isn't that why, after the initial break up in the early 80's, they said that they would only work together again "when hell freezes over," hence the title of the reunion tour?essbee wrote:Jamie

Floyd and Zeplin I can cope with the eagles with a small e and stored in file 13 (the Bin) Never been keen on their dull tones and depressing lyrics and more so since being in TH, hearing time over and again various dodgy covers of one track by various dodgy cover bands various times erey night. unforunatly the eagles are like enduring the sound of fingernails being drawn dawn a chalk board and honestly I have to leave the building within the first 4 chords, yes I can name that tune in 3 actually
Maybe I have been subliminally tortured similar to the Chinese water technique but by having the eagles forced into my ears continuously for long periods of time OOOOOOH the pain of it all I will never be the same again
I can only praise the sky's and say thank you to the great creater that the Thai cover bands havnt yet started to cover with Paul Weller that would be the end of the world
But if you Like go on Enjoy I will stay home and do the dishes and wash my hair LOL
I now have a confession since being in thailand many pc juke boxes now do not contain this tune due to it being sent to the recycle bin, including the 102.5 station pc
Guilty as charged in the words of the Blues Brothers im on a mission from God

I watched Live in Melbourne last night with Mrs Jaime. Great - it was just like being back in the Millenium Stadium!essbee wrote:Great DVD, You might also look for the Boxed Set "Eagles Selected Workes". Got a fantastic live set from the Y2k concert.

Sorry, Dr Dave, got to agree with Jaime, having seen the beginning of the tour in BKK last year.
First time I've ever blessed Mr Thaksin (we were late, but he was later & the concert was held up for him)
Definitely the best value for money concert I've ever seen. These guys went on for longer than any concert I've been for & were inexhaustible, despite their age. Each to their own, but for me, Farewell (1) deserved a
