Norseman do you mean now, because of the floods, or at any time?Norseman wrote:Strangely enough, I received a report today that the Bang Na Chon Buri Xpressway / Burapha Withi Expressway/ Maha Nakhon expressway across Rama lX bridge was dry.
This is the normal route between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Hua Hin.
As the outer ringroad has been dry all the time i don't care much about that route, but is it true that it's possible to drive to Suvarnabhumi via the Rama lX bridge?

Does anyone know if the train HH - BKK is running (properly)?
Re: Alternative Routes to & from Hua Hin to BKK
Maybe a bit off the topic, but my problem is that I need to drive down to Hua Hin from Phetchabun on Friday morning and am in urgent need of fresh information on road conditions. The route I usually take is Hwy 21, then 1, then Kanchanisipek Rd (Hwy 9 western), then Rama 2 (35) and finally Hwy 4. This usually takes 6 hours including 2 pit stops. But, how about now? The big question is, is Hwy 9 (western) really closed? On the highway maps http://maintenance.doh.go.th/flood54.html it´s been red now for a month! Can you trust these maps? Coming from north-north-east the suggested deroute via Nakhon Pathom is not really an option (especially after taking a long trip to Issaan a few days ago...). Maybe choosing eastern Hwy 9, or the express/tollways, down to the harbour, then crossing Rama IX bridge merging into Hwy 35, is a more feasible solution? Eastern Hwy 9 is dotted green, just how congested is it? Takes all day? And btw, I drive a Toyota Yaris, not a Hummer! Very grateful for all kinds of advice!!

Southern buses, trains back to normal

Online news:
The southern bus terminal reopened today, with services moving from the temporary station on Rama II Road back to the permanent location on Boromratchonnanee Road, according to the government's 1111 information centre.
The state-run Transport Co said the flood level is falling on Boromratchnonnanee Road.
The latest inspection of buildings at the terminal found no damage so transport officials had moved all services back to the terminal, company managing director Wutthichat Kanlayanamit said.
The southern-bound bus service was relocated to an area near Holland Brewery restaurant on Rama II Road on Oct 31 after the flood encroached on the terminal.
The company will ask the Transport Ministry to allocate a budget of one million baht to cover extra expenses incurred during the flood, he said.
The State Railway of Thailand has also announced the resumption of normal south-bound train services.
The flooding in Bangkok's Bang Bua Thong, Bang Bamru and Taling Chan areas has caused train services to depart from Nakhon Pathom instead of the Hua Lamphong and Thon Buri stations in Bangkok.
The situation in those areas had now returned to normal and the SRT had resumed normal services for all south-bound trains starting today, the statement said.
Those who have any questions can contact the SRT's call centre at 1690 around the clock.

I have just driven back to Bangkok from Hua Hin without any problems except for heavy traffic. If it was me I think that I would stick to the Eastern Hwy 9, but go all the way to Bang Na and across the new bridge to Pra Phadaeng. Keep away from both the Western ring road and the expressways though Bangkok. The Eastern ring did have some flooding around Lam Nak Ka (sp), a couple of weeks ago, but I believe it is clear now.

Re: Alternative Routes to & from Hua Hin to BKK
Since there hasn't been any updates for a week now, i take it that the roads are clear and they are not expected to flood as the water is receding?
The only things I regret are the things I didn't do
