I'll give you that. I wouldn't say no to that outcome.... would actually prefer it for a few different reasons.

The best available manager at the moment is Rafa Benitez but the English media don't like him, oracles of Football that they are.

I of course know that you post the above just to wind up the 99.1 % of the country who, with good reason, dislike the guy.
Yippeee...... let's secure another foreign coach who doesn't give a sheep's shite about the country and let him lead our lions out onto the pitch... Laughable.
Re: Premier League 2011-2012
Why with good reason?
Re: Premier League 2011-2012
Have you seen the 442 dirge he deals up with a bunch of very talented kids? They do ok in spite of him, not because of him.
I like Pearce the player and bloke but he's never a top level manager. Good number two maybe.

Re: Premier League 2011-2012
I dont think Redknapp will take over England, not because of his trial but because he has a heart condition.
Agree with Baa Baa about Stuart Pearce.....when he was manager of Citeh they played some dire stuff and he has done nothing to suggest he would be different as the England manager.
And surely it should be the best man for the job not just because he's English.....OK,Capello has been pretty poor but at least we have qualified for the last two tournaments unlike under the last England manager,McClaren.....and who was the last England manager before him....Kevin Keegan !!
Who would you want as the next England manager....someone like Guardiola or Mourinho or an Englishman like Neil Warnock ??
Heres a list of current Premiership managers who are English......makes sobering reading.
Redknapp
Bruce
Warnock
Pardew
Hodgson
If Southampton are promoted then you also have Nigel Adkins who will have achieved successive promotions.
You might as well throw into the mix other lower league managers......Allardyce,Holloway,Mowbray,Jewell and Megson !!
So you will see the cupboard is bretty bare.....its like Theresa May representing the UK in Miss World !!
If its not Redknapp then the only other two even worth considering are Pardew and Adkins.....so that should tell you something.

I find this whole Suarez thing really intriguing now.
As the FA have now 'charged' him, will the Police ask for sight of their evidence to back-up the fact he has now committed such a disciplinary offence, bearing in mind its now a criminal offence as well? Or will the FA voluntarily report the matter to the Police? Especially in view of the Terry/Ferdinand affair and the frenzy of moral indignation and bullshit being wrung far and wide across the UK, based on Herr Blatters pronouncement?
Or do we have two levels of justice for what is essentially the same alleged offence?
And if Suarez is found guilty, can it stick? As if not dealt with by the Police its not a criminal matter - What level of 'proof' are the FA seeking before pronouncing guilt? Is it more likely than not or beyond doubt? I foresee a messy ending.

The PC brigade has forgotten what it's like to play competitive sports at a top level. All of us who have played at any level beyond primary school understand that to be a winner, you have to be aggressive. Of course players in any sport are going to get in each others faces and go nose to nose from time to time. It's lucky that they have an outlet of words in order to avoid use of fists and feet, (except in ice hockey
) In the heat of the moment, words are words and no more than that and of course foul language and anything else on the tip of the tongue is going to come out. Let the boys play! Pete

Re: Premier League 2011-2012
Check out the fixtures over the next 2 or 3 weeks
Most of the top six are playing each other - one way or another - except Spurs
We have some interesting matches but not necessarily easy ones, with some of the lower placed clubs
So - bearing in mind we still have a game in hand against the Toffees .............and we've already played Manure and Citeh once (Yes I know we were thumped - but we were just warming up
Do I see a 4th or even 3rd place looming over the holiday period?

Me hopes so but this is Spurs you are talking about. Audere est Facere", "To Dare is To Do" but really means "To Hope and Hope and Hope"Terry wrote:Check out the fixtures over the next 2 or 3 weeks

Yes, Terry, I've been watching you tempting fate with some trepidation...
On the one hand, I looked at the fixtures a little while ago and reckoned we had a good shout at 3rd by mid January. Thought I'd posted something along those lines.
One the other hand, I'm sort of with JG - the less said out loud the better!
However, I've got everything crossed, and have Spurs as my banker this weekend.
