I'd be the first to admit i didn't want Alan Pardew when he got appointed and i'm only too happy to be proven wrong. I think a lot of credit must be given to Chris Hughton who got the team playing as "a team" and got us back up into the premier league. Pardew has carried that on and added to Hughton's signings. Ashley has cut the spending and got the club nearly viable. I don't think he'd even predicted our league position(as brief as it maybe). I can't give him any credit for what happens on the pitch. I only hope he leaves things as they are for now.

P.S. We actually have a better defensive record that City at the moment. They've let 8 goals in to our 7

Yes you are quite right about my ignorance...having viewed the video several times I have come to the conclusion that JT is saying "Jolly well played old boy" and not "You f***ing black c**t" as previously thought.

I am sure the Met Police and the FA will come to the same conclusion.

Back to football, I watched Spurs play in Russia during the week - what a bizarre experience. Pavlyuchenko and Bassong confirmed why they are very much second string players, but apart from Cudicini and Gallas the game was remarkable only for the lack of enthusiasm shown by young players who should be desperate to show what they have to offer.

Never mind, classic Spurs tonight. The game won at half time, but a transformed Spurs couldn't hang on to the ball in the second half. Parker, Modric and van der vaart weren't quite their usual selves and Fulham played well, but you can't really argue with 3 good goals and an obvious penalty ignored by the ref against one own goal and a possible penalty claim for Fulham. Zamora is a "big, strong lad", but has no business wearing an England shirt.
Still they kept picking Heskey, so anything's possible.

The difference this season for Spurs was demonstrated last week against QPR and again tonight when they held on for a win rather than giving it away. Friedel and Parker must take a lot of credit for that.

No reason why we shouldn't win all our games between now and 22/1 (away at Citeh), but this is where we fell down last season - too many draws we should have won. February and March more tricky, but I reckon we're a very good bet for 4th and about evens with Chelsea for 3rd.

It was a cracking game and no way did Fulham deserve to lose, the fact Friedel was named man of the match sums it up! 6 shots against, what 26 by Fulham? Granted its the ones that go in that count, and you did have control in the 1st half, but....

As for the 'possible' penalty claim

Admittedly it was the goalmouth tussle of all goalmouth tussles, but when a guy goes down, finds the ball at his chest, decides to scoop it into his arms, with his, er arms, for a nice little cuddle before thinking, er, I had better not do this and releasing it again, then I think its fair to say a penalty should have been awarded! That of course would have made it 2-2 with nil time left, instead Spurs went up the other end to score.

Even the beeb commented on Jols sportsmanship by going up to shake the refs hand after the game!

But as I say, a thoroughly enjoyable contest, but just remember DM, such decisions have a way of coming back to haunt you!

I notice you didn't comment on the obvious penalty against Parker a few minutes earlier that would have made anything else irrelevant, but I suppose that's just football.

Of course Fulham were unlucky, but if Spurs had 2 points for every time their match stats weren't reflected by the final score, they'd have been in the top 4 for the last 5 years! It's good to see Spurs winning games when not at their best.

Martin Jol's a good manager who shouldn't have been sacked by Spurs when he was.
QPR look good enough to establish themselves in the premier league.
West London's having a good time, though Chelsea need to get their act together if they want to challenge for top spot.


Afterthought: Just reading this again, and apart from the penalty decision there wasn't really much luck involved, just an excellent keeper and too many wasted shots blasted over the bar. Spurs gave away possession time after time in the 2nd half - Fulham didn't score enough goals with it. Simple as that really.
