Good game, good for the EPL and (even though it hurts) - well done the Arse.
:agree:
But very worrying for Chelsea.
Shame.

But just as I said here after the Utd game, I'm not so impressed with the new manager as half the press seem to be. You have to set up teams to defend well, which has always been one of out strengths, but perhaps at Porto he didn't have to worry about such things? In the premiership you do, but it doesn't seem to have been a concern of his all season and if he doesn't get that fact soon, then he will be history. Also a small fact of understanding that in the very top games, you have to play your best players. I hope he gets his act together.
Both sides were lacking defensively today.
I suppose we can point to the fact that 3 of the 1st choice back four were missing.

Chelsk looked wide open, something they're not renowned for.
Maybe the new man is trying to put his own mark & style on the team . . . which isn't working.

Good entertaining game though & for a change we got something out of it :D

I'll pass on the ignorant comments about JT above.
His slip was funny mind, or the look on his face afterwards anyway :D

Seems almost criminal to me......

Hansen scores £1.5 million a year ... even on the bench

Fresh questions were being asked last night over the scale of BBC salaries after it emerged that Alan Hansen was paid about £40,000 for every appearance on Match of the Day.

The football pundit is understood to receive almost £1.5 million a year at a time when the corporation is planning to axe 2,000 jobs as it looks to save £670 million.

An MP questioned the size of the deal and urged the BBC to consider whether it could justify such large salaries for its "talent".

The figure means Hansen is among the highest paid stars at the corporation, with only a few presenters, such as Gary Lineker, his Match of the Day colleague, understood to be earning more.

Of around 70 editions of the Saturday night football highlights show and its Sunday spin-off Match of the Day 2, broadcast over the last year, Hansen is understood to have appeared in about half.

It means that he has received around £40,000 for every appearance.

Well, there's plenty I would like to write about yesterday's game but all I want to say now is that I nearly missed seeing it as I was studying in another town than I live in and it took me a while to find a place to watch the match. In the end I saw it and I'm very happy for that. One thing, though, I'd like to praise Theo Walcott's goal, what a goal that was, must be one for the competition for the goal of the season.

Bloody Newcastle have spoiled my IKTS score again...

The Magpies have made an excellent start, but I really can't see them staying in the top 4 much longer. Home draws against Arsenal and Spurs, but apart from that I don't think they've played anyone in the top 10 yet.

TBF some ain't in the top 10 because Newcastle beat them.

They won't finish in the top 4 or even 6 but they've got a decent side and had a great start, Fairplay.

I've been particularly impressed with Cabaye and although he didn't play tonight Tiote looks a good player, it's Newcastle though, something will go wrong soon enough.

Ok we haven't played the top "two" yet or chelsea :D but we've played Arsenal,spurs(2 good sides) we beat sunderland away which is a big scalp for us and Stoke away, another good result. We've got the 3 big games in the not too distant future and wheras i can't see us winning those games, does anyone on here think we'll lose all three??? I think we will pick up a point.Maybe two!!
More importantly 22 points.Thats over half way to safety and hopefully a top ten finish, the best defensive record in the league and a club that broke even on the balance sheet last season(all be it by offloading a donkey with a pony tail)
I know its a cliche but you can only play whats put in front of you and i'm with you Baabaa, something always goes wrong with us but we do seem a bit more organised in all departments now. I guess its up to Mr
Ashley to stuff all that up

Whatever team I support, they do very well when I stop supporting them. I've moved to Liverpool so indeed it could be a bad omen! :alien: Pete

Only Man City have a better defensive record than you, which is why you are up there. Congratulations on your start, it must be enjoyable. Isn't Ashley ultimately the cause of this, planned oR not, through his control of the purse strings and bringing in Pardew? Serious question.
