Almost through Falling Skies which is a slow starter but heats up towards the end, all ten episodes of the first season can be downloaded from Veehd.

Managed to get the first three seasons of Sons Of Anarchy on a non-throttled connection from KickAssTorrents.

Now we'll have a go at Terra Nova ...

A new series on TrueVisions is Ben Hur (the Jewish, Roman slave character portrayed in the famous old movie of the same name staring Chuck Heston). I have two episodes pvr'd but haven't watched yet. Adverts make it look like it may be good though.

I saw the movie when I was a kid (1959) and will never forget the violent chariot race sequence.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

STRIKE BACK and then (series 2) STRIKE BACK: PROJECT DAWN

An excellent short British series: small ex-special forces unit goes into hotspots to save the world.

Well worth a look. VeeHD (make sure that adult programming is accessed) and The Box.

And a great theme song: The Heavy, Short Change Hero.

fans of western series lke DEADWOOD may wish to keep a weather eye out for HELL ON WHEELS.

Set just after the end of the US Civil War the series' central plotline is a revenge tale about a Confederate officer who sets out to find and kill every man in the Unionist unit who raped and killed his wife and burned down his farm. He joins a workcrew on the Union Pacific railroad as it pushes west to link up with the Central Pacfic, driven on by a corrupt to the core owner who is bilking the government and blackmailing senators. The railhead is just entering Cherokee territory, so now there are tribes of pissed off injuns in the way, and the advance crews are getting themselves scalped.

Its good stuff....sort of Pale Rider ish western gothic revenger style stuff.

well worth a watch IMHO

Coincidentally, I've just watched the last episode of the last series of DEADWOOD. Great series with some first-rate acting, but what a shame it ended when it did.

Yep - couldn't understand that, Great series. There was some talk of a feature length show to close things off, but it seems apparent that that was also shelved.

Just finished watching the second series - really did enjoy it. A third series of Strike Back, also to consist of 10 parts, will be released in 2012.... or so rumour has it!!

A more leisurely stroll through the very English streets of Academe and crime drama is LEWIS, starring Kevin Whately as (former) Sgt Lewis from MORSE. Still in Oxford, now promoted and with his own sergeant sidekick.
There are four shortish series, each stand-alone episode is 90 minutes - a film in itself.

It starts off with promise but slowly fades into another series focused on the political and emotional bonds between the colony characters, all of whom are far too attractive. We wanted dinosaurs, action, science and CGI!

Almost finished Sons of Anarchy season 4 (which ended this week) - now that one is definitely one to watch.

Looking forward to Spartacus: Vengeance due to start next month: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1442449/

My sister calls the show 'Dinosaurs 90210'.

Just downloading Hornblower, a UK series from the mid-90s? that I vaguely remember seeing a bit of. Starring the guy with the very Welsh name and the very English accent.

And the first episode of Sherlock.

Have yet to watch the 3-part series of Great Expectations shown over Christmas on the BBC, with the fantastic Ray Winstone and, to my surprise, Gillian Anderson from The X-Files as the spooky Miss Haversham.

And in addition to the above there's a Sky1 2-parter Treasure Island with an interesting cast and a one-off two-hour TV movie/pilot (if successful) called Endeavour, which Morse fans will guess is a prequel to Inspector Morse.

Haven't seen them yet, but they look promising.

We're currently watching 'The Street', which was created by Jimmy McGovern who also created one of my other favourites 'Cracker'. It's won a boatload of awards, which doesn't always guarantee quality - but in this case it does.

Apparently there are three series, and we're just working our way through series one. It touches on slightly uncomfortable situations, so don't watch it if you're feeling a tad down. It's rather unusual in that it focuses on one particular family in the street in each episode, but their lives are interwined with other residents of the street - so you need to watch from episode one.

VS

P.S. DM: Hornblower is a goodie - well worth downloading.
